January 6th was more than an attack on the Capitol it was an attack on democracy. The hate, violence, and division on display showed how deep the wounds are in our country. We can never forget, and we must stand against hate to heal and move forward. #StandAgainstHate
It was a pleasure to join Coahoma Community College in celebrating this year’s Homecoming Queen, King, and members of the Royal Court.
Congratulations to all on this special achievement and for representing Coahoma with pride!

I was glad to join the Glendora community for a prayer vigil and Stop the Violence ceremony on Saturday.
Addressing violence takes all of us working together. We must invest in our communities, support our families, and build safer communities for future generations.

I’m grateful to VP @KamalaHarris and Congressman @BGThompsonMS for joining me in the Delta for a healthcare roundtable, and to everyone in Clarksdale who welcomed us and shared their stories.
Nobody should have to worry about whether they can afford to see a doctor or get the quality care they need. Mississippi families deserve better, and I’ll keep fighting to make sure they get it. #MississippiMatters
Today’s roundtable discussion on rural health care with @KamalaHarris and @scott_colom was a reminder that the future of rural health care depends on the decisions our leaders make and whether they put the needs of the people first.
It all starts at the ballot box!
Recent Supreme Court action has allowed the Trump administration to use an expanded federal database to review voter registration records.
With 12 days left to vote, every eligible voter should make sure their registration information is accurate and up to date!
I was glad to join Gateway Community Development Corporation, HOPE Enterprise Corporation, and community leaders in Yazoo City for the ribbon-cutting of Roberts Estates.
Thank you to Gateway CDC and everyone who helped make this project possible.
Last Saturday, I had the opportunity to speak at the Men’s Prayer Breakfast at Sharon Chapel A.M.E. Zion Church.
It was a good morning of fellowship and a reminder that iron sharpens iron.
We must keep encouraging our men and preparing the next generation to lead.
Political affiliation should never matter more than the character of the person leading our country.
Leadership requires honesty, integrity, and accountability, not corruption.
We must never lose sight of the values that matter most.
The Trump Administration stopped accepting new enrollments in the Veterans Affairs Servicing Purchase program, which had helped more than 17,000 veterans and their families avoid foreclosure.
Veterans deserve meaningful support to keep a roof over their families’ heads.
Trump has always sold Americans false promises while putting himself first.
He has never made the best interests of the American people his priority.
Shame on him!
We're not sure some people realize what an absolute, complete fraud this man is - he ran for president talking non-stop about how he was going to lower costs "on Day One."
And not only has he not done that, he's made costs skyrocket even further - and once prices really went through the roof, he then mocked the problem and wouldn't lift a finger to try to solve it.
Send him a message on November 3rd.

The 2026 election is two months away, and concerns about the potential deployment of the National Guard or other federal forces at polling places make it even more important for voters to know their rights.
Don’t wait until Election Day to know your rights!
Too many red states are struggling with child poverty, maternal and infant mortality, and poor healthcare outcomes because Republican lawmakers vote against policies that could address these crises.
You can’t say you hear people’s cries while voting against their needs.
“Vote red to save our country”
Meanwhile, this is how Republicans run their states..

More than 70 years after Brown v. Board of Education, the Trump Administration is moving to end federal oversight in school desegregation cases, including in Mississippi.
Every child deserves equal access to a quality education.

I would like for everyone to join me in wishing the Coahoma Community College Choir and Ms. Anna Hurd safe travels as they make their way to Washington, D.C., to perform at the Gospel Extravaganza tomorrow night.
Thank you to the James E. Clyburn Leadership Institute for inviting me to speak with this year’s fellowship cohort to discuss the implications of the Louisiana v. Callais decision for national and state races for 2026.
If you are not registered to vote, I encourage you to contact one of my district offices or your local Circuit Clerk’s office to learn where and how to register. The deadline to register in Mississippi for the November elections is October 5th.

Everything Trump touches, he destroys.
We have seen it time and time again. Put Trump in charge, and working systems become a mess.
Democrats have a proven track record of putting the American people first.
Under this current administration, too many Americans are suffering while Republicans continue pushing policies that favor the wealthy and well-connected.
