So let's actually do the math on this "supress salary" argument
The current payroll of all teams combined is 5,430M
The proposed cap and floor is $160M - $240M
Assuming everyone above lowers to 240 and all below raise to 160, the total would become 5,700M!! Almost 300M more in payout, even including the current hyper inflated Dodgers total coming down 150+!
So who's suppressing whose salary, Chris Bassitt and "executive subcommittee"? The top 5% of PLAYERS are suppressing salary for the other 95%!
And for what?! For a small elite's super privilege. That's the ACTUAL purpose of a union, to AVOID that. The fans want it, the owners want it, most players want it (remember executive subcommittee voted 0-8 against last CBA, while the players rep group voted 20-8), but the super douche subcommittee wants to gaslight us into being the victim
This is what sports fans have become. Absolute pansies
Akin to a toddler kicking and screaming cause he got a red popsicle instead of a blue one
How far we have fallen as a society. Dudes just absolutely castrated all over, it's not just Pirates fans
😆😆😆 $33 is price gouging. What, mommy stop bank rolling you, Jim?
Now do average price. What's the cost for 1st deck comparatively?
They're taking the quality over quantity route since their market has such low volume thanks to the malcontents
Raising the floor does 2 things. 1) discourages the riff raff and 2) encourages more of the lower bowl ticket sales. Without such a wide gap between the two, ppl are more willing to upgrade. It's a quality over quantity argument. Tried doing quantity and it hasn't worked so why not try the other. And if you can keep out the blubbering idiots that ruin the experience by booing and crying and being generally soft for real baseball fans and kids, double win
Mayyybe this is a bed you made yourself, DK and the rest of the Pittsburgh media?
Can't assume you can slander someone for decades and get any type of preferential treatment
The cash cow of shit on the Bucs is on its way out but not without the vampires kicking and screaming!
Replying to @Dejan_Kovacevic
Finally, the team's getting creative to avoid the constant smear campaigns
You think maybe, Noah, this is in response to 30 years of abuse by the local media? But no, sure, point fingers right at them as per usual
Absolutely he was disappointed about the move, but this was largely much to do about nothing
Also out of these 2, who you starting? 51% hard hit rate and a .285 xBA is a disaster waiting to happen
And no way am I bringing Walks McGee in with anyone on base
Carmen Mlodzinski is off the restricted list and ready to embrace his new role. Talked to the Pirates pitcher today about everything: mlb.com/news/pirates-carmen-…
The agent mouth pieces in full force
Why don't they touch on the fact that the BASELINE proposed cap puts significantly more money in players pockets in totality? Somehow that's bad for all players?
The @MLBPA is a joke only serving agents and the top 5% of who they represent
The MLBPA's response, in part, to today's proposal: "The owners responded today with a demand for a salary cap system, something generations of players have fought against. The last time the owners made such an explicit push for a cap—over 30 years ago—it led to the longest work stoppage in MLB history. For generations, our members have fought against cap systems because they harm players at all levels, erode or eliminate contractual guarantees, pit player against player, lead to more work stoppages, not less, and get worse for players over time. Caps don’t lower ticket prices for fans, eliminate tanking or ensure teams are run with equal competence. They suffocate competition by offering owners an all-purpose excuse for inaction and mediocrity."
We have actual numbers now
245 cap and 171 floor (seems my estimates were pretty spot on, conservatively)
And that's the owners FIRST offer
Again, the cap/floor system is PRO players! Don't let the agent mouth pieces and big market easy button hoarders tell you any different

The BASE proposal would put $40M dollars into players pockets
Could easily double that in negotiations AND get your super 2 and club control asks
But sure, the @MLBPA is looking out for all their members 🙄
MLB proposed a hard salary cap of $245.3 million and a salary floor of $171.2 million for 2027 as part of the next CBA, per @JesseRogersESPN
Another ho hum day for Seth Hernandez! He now has the following statline in Low A
12 IP, 3 H, 3 BB, 1 ER, 23 Ks
Fastball is sitting 99-100 and it's not even his best pitch!
The Pirates have the best two 19 year old baseball players on the planet in the org
What, maybe one or two more starts before Greensboro for Seth Hernandez? How high will he get this year?
7 innings pitched, 15 Ks, 1 BB, 0.57 WHIP
Pure domination
2 runs courtesy of actual rockets up KGs behind. The infield single (to Machado no less) by a full step. Henry's pop up would've been out 3
And then scoring from 1st on that Cruz hit that didn't go more than 150 feet 🤯🤯
That was unreal! MEEP MEEP
Soooo Alika Williams is 12 for 17 with 2 walks, 1 K and a 1.562 OPS in the early AAA season
Fascinating potential trade chip
