A powerful account of lived experience of anorexia from a young court of protection lawyer.
BLEMI is here as a safe space for barristers (and barristers-to-be) to share and provide mutual support confidentially.
We are incredibly proud that our BLEMI founder @SteveBroach is on the list of successful KC applicants today! Steve is proof that lived experience of mental illness need not preclude excellence at the bar. Congratulations! 🥳📷 🥳
Congratulations to the 95 successful KC applicants in the 2023 competition! Silk List now published here:

Another lovely BLEMI meeting this morning. We are a mutual support network and we take the time periodically, for those who want to come, to e-meet, talk about how we're going and experience much-needed solidarity! Do feel free to be in touch if you'd like to join.
Here for all barristers with lived experience of mental illness on World Mental Health Day and every day.
It's #WorldMentalHealthDay. But every day of the year, we are here to support all current and aspiring barristers with lived experience of mental illness. This goes beyond wellbeing initiatives - the bar needs to recognise and address prejudice against those with mental illness.

Important thread for all barristers who experience mental health difficulties

1 in 4 of us will experience a mental health problem each year. But how many of us know how to explain what we're going through, or reach out for support?
This #MentalHealthAwarenessWeek, share this Tweet so people know they're not alone. And if they need support, #SpeakToMind
It's Mental Health Awareness Week. In what ways do you wish the bar was more aware of and accommodating of mental health?
“I also felt that it might be someway helpful to people if I opened up about it and say, ‘You can do a job and you can be successful’..." This is true at the bar. Our members are testament to that. theguardian.com/society/2022…
