For 80 years, from our beginnings as the General Land Office, then joining with the U.S. Grazing Service to form the Bureau of Land Management, we’ve worked to protect your public lands for future generations.
Our multiple-use mission is rooted in productivity and sustainability, while prioritizing recreation, energy production, and landscape health.
13.5 million acres of public lands.
42 million acres of oil, natural gas and minerals.
Public lands help inspire pride in our nation’s beautiful and distinctive landscapes and resources.
Thank you for 80 years of working together as stewards of the land.
NM-117 is currently covered in 3-4 inches of water approximately 1.5 miles south of Joe Skeen Campground. Please proceed with caution while driving through the area. The Full Moon Hike event at La Ventana Arch will proceed as planned at 7:00 p.m.

TBT to when cave specialist Knutt Peterson gave a talk at the Old Lincoln County courthouse about the Fort Stanton Cave🏦
One of the things he highlighted was the 7000 hrs volunteers have dedicated to the cave over the past year😲assisting with vital restoration & exploration projects
7000 hours. That's 292 days, 42 weeks, or 10 months.
That's a LOT of work.

Happy Spooktober!😱
Camping on your public lands can be thrilling - or chilling!
Gather 'round the campfire for some ghost stories that will send shivers down your spine …
if, you know, you're into that kind of thing.
Happy camping⛺🎃
Day 87 of trying to catch insects for dinner.
Nothing yet. Very hungry.
But the views are magnificent.
🌋Hikers who joined our "Lava Lookout Hike" at Valley of Fires Rec Area last weekend picked the *perfect* day with clear skies & comfy temperatures.
Ft. Stanton NCA Manager Warren Kasper led the 2-mi hike along the Kipuka Trail, offering insight into the area's geologic history.
