🏃♀️ HELLEN OBIRI RETURNS TO NEW YORK CHASING A THIRD MARATHON TITLE!
Hellen Obiri is back at the TCS New York City Marathon, looking to make history with a third victory on Sunday.
The Kenyan star dominated last year's race in 2:19:51, taking nearly three minutes off the previous course record, which had stood since 2003.
Another victory would place Obiri among just four women to have won the New York City Marathon at least three times, joining Grete Waitz, Mary Keitany and Paula Radcliffe.
But the defending champion knows the pressure is there.
“For me, what I have right now is pressure,” Obiri admitted ahead of the race, acknowledging the expectations that come with being the course record holder.
She will still face a strong field, including 2024 champion Sheila Chepkirui, Edna Kiplagat and American debutant Weini Kelati.
Obiri is also using the race to assess her form as she builds towards the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics, where she hopes to complete her career with Olympic gold.

🎓 HYROX IS BRINGING THE RACE TO COLLEGE CAMPUSES!
HYROX is officially expanding into collegiate sports with the launch of HYROX Collegiate Relays, giving university students the chance to compete against other schools in a team-based fitness race.
Each team must consist of four current students from the same university. Together, they will split the eight 1km runs and eight functional workout stations, including sled pushes, rowing and wall balls.
Teams will compete in dedicated collegiate waves for the first-ever HYROX Collegiate Cup.
The new division is set to make its debut at Creapure HYROX Chicago at Navy Pier, with the Collegiate Cup scheduled for February 12, 2027. Tickets are expected to go on sale soon.
The move follows another milestone in September, when Kean University became the first school in the United States to launch an official collegiate HYROX team.
With youth and university divisions expanding the sport's reach, HYROX is building a pathway for the next generation of athletes. The organisation has also expressed ambitions to pursue Olympic inclusion for Brisbane 2032.

NEW BALANCE OPENS NEW LONDON BRAND HUB IN A HISTORIC BUILDING
New Balance has opened a new brand hub at 60 Short’s Gardens in Covent Garden, London, bringing its performance, lifestyle, and footwear heritage together under one roof.
The restored Victorian building once generated electricity for the carbon arc lights that illuminated London’s historic theatre district. Now, it has a new purpose as a space for the brand to connect with athletes, partners, media, and the wider industry.
Inside, dedicated areas showcase New Balance’s running, football, and tennis collections, alongside its lifestyle range. A new “Made In” lounge also highlights the craftsmanship behind its premium Made collections, including footwear produced at the brand’s Flimby factory in the UK.
Rather than operating as a traditional retail store, the hub will host product previews, brand events, and meetings with ambassadors and commercial partners.
The opening adds to New Balance’s growing presence in London and reinforces the city’s importance to its European strategy. 👟
