Your post is misleading.
Retired Major General John Enenche was briefly named on the Labour Partyโs initial 1,234-member Presidential Campaign Council list. LP promptly removed him following public backlash over his 2020 claim that videos of the Lekki Toll Gate shootings had been โphotoshopped.โ He never served as a member of the Labour Partyโs 2023 Presidential Campaign Council.
Obi's credibility remains a problem.
Peter Obi and the NDC went ahead to appoint retired Major General John Enenche as Campaign Director for Security and Intelligence, and Nigerian didn't complain. This same man was included in Obi's LP list in 2023. If Tinubu questions of nepotism will make trend.
That aside, this was the same man who said that the EndSARS shootingz were photoshopped, thereby dismissing the massacre reports. Today, he's being appointed by the NDC, a party that is supposedly the liberators of Nigerians.
Just imagine if Atiku appointed Yahaya Jingir to his campaign team, it won't slide.
Wasn't it the same Obi that just dropped a lengthy post on EndSARS memorial day condemning the act? Today he works with someone who tried to cover it up. If he wins tomorrow, John Enenche may be appointed to lead a security post. I feel sorry for us.
You are vile. You have wished death upon people for the sole reason that they refused or withdrew their political support from your candidate. This is not speech or disagreement. It is an open expression of murderous intent, and it is pure evil. That you issue these death wishes while remaining completely insulated from any personal consequence, as if you were immortal and beyond accountability, only exposes the full depth of your moral corruption.
It is unfortunate that a personal opinion has drawn insulting comments. I do not hate the NDC. I want the party to succeed, and I remain a card-carrying member of NDC. The more pressing question, however, is what the NDC is doing differently to win this election, and whether the 2027 campaign strategy differs substantially from the Labour Partyโs 2023 playbook.
While Peter Obi supporters are active on social media, the ruling party continues to build and leverage its grassroots structures. President Tinubu, who came to power outside conventional channels in 2023, should not be treated lightly now that he controls appointments at INEC and heads the security agencies.
This appointment is so well deserved. You bring a rare combination of grace, sharp intelligence, and quiet excellence to everything you do. Protocol needs exactly the kind of poise and purpose you naturally carry.
The youths are winning and in you, they have a beautiful example of it.
Well done. Weโre proud of you.
Exodus 14:14 (KJV). The LORD shall fight for you, and ye shall hold your peace. Israel was trapped between the sea and Pharaohโs army and panicking. Moses told them to stop fearing and complaining and trust God to fight. In the event, God threw the Egyptian army into confusion and destroyed them (Exodus 14:24โ28). The stillness was for Godโs people, the confusion fell on their enemies.

It is no longer a rumour. The FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, has openly admitted responsibility for the subversion of the votersโ will in Edo State and other states across Nigeria. This pattern is gradually becoming the norm in our democracy and is something the entire nation should be deeply worried about.
Dr. Asue Ighodalo @Aighodalo was the best candidate on the ballot. It is most unfortunate that he, and by extension we the people of Edo, were robbed of development, democratic growth, and the rule of law through the actions of both state and federal government-run institutions. Edo people continue to pray for Godโs intervention to restore our long-standing tradition of educated and quality leaders in political office.
The good people of Edo State condemn this ugly revelation and the entire development in its entirety.
โI said I will not allow Obaseki produce a successor even though the candidate was a very good candidate; very good candidate who was the chairman of a bank. Ha came to see me more than three times but I told him โlisten, I know you are a good candidate, but for this election I am sorry; because this election is between us and the man who is bringing you, called Obaseki. Returning you would be like bringing him back so I am sorry, you have to failโ.
And he failed.โ

It is sickening that the USA is now lifting sanctions on Russian fuel, and transparently ridiculous to blame Ukraine for the spike in prices that obviously began with the closure of the Strait of Hormuz. Putin is murdering innocent Ukrainian civilians every day. The Ukrainians are fighting for their lives. And yet the White House is apparently determined to force American drivers to bankroll Putinโs slaughter. It wonโt work and I doubt it will make much difference to the price of fuel.
If we want Russian oil and gas back on the world market then letโs end this war - with a free, sovereign and independent Ukraine.

Dear Honourable Minister of Finance, @taiwoyedele,
I respectfully request clarification on the percentage discount to be applied to fuel prices over the next 30 days. This information would enable Nigerians to plan accordingly. Alternatively, kindly confirm whether NNPC retail stations. Most of which operate as franchises are to determine the applicable discount themselves?
Thank you.
Dear Hon. Minister of Finance @taiwoyedele Nigeria.
A subsidy need not involve a direct cash payment. Under #WTO rules, revenue forgone, tax concessions and benefits conferred by public bodies count as subsidies. The IMF likewise treats lower profits of state-owned energy firms as subsidies. NNPC Retailโs margin cut is a subsidy in substance and a form of administered pricing.

Since 1 October 2026, motorists have been paying less for petrol at NNPC Retail Limited stations, following a discount on the companyโs retail margin. We welcome the relief this brings to households, commuters and transporters.
Some commentators have described the discount as a return of fuel subsidy. That is not correct. Here, plainly, is what the discount is and what it is not.
Every marketer adds a margin to the price it pays for the fuel it sells. A margin discount means the retailer chooses to take a smaller margin, or no margin at all for a period, and passes the saving to the customer. The cost of the discount is borne by the retailer alone.
A subsidy is different. It is when government pays part of the price the consumer would otherwise pay. That money comes from public revenue โ funds that would otherwise go to salaries, schools, hospitals and infrastructure. That is the regime this administration ended in 2023, and it is not coming back.
The discount is not funded by the federal budget or the Federation Account. NNPC Retail buys petrol from the Dangote Refinery and other suppliers at market prices, on commercial terms, then adds its retail margin to set the pump price. The discount comes out of that margin alone, so the discounted pump price remains market-reflective.
This is quite different from crude oil owned by the Federation. Selling the nationโs crude below market price would amount to a subsidy, because the shortfall would be borne by public revenue.
NNPC Retail Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of NNPC Limited, began operations over 20 years ago as a petroleum marketing and retail company. It was set up to ensure the nationwide availability, distribution and affordability of refined petroleum products.
Its purpose, in other words, is to keep products available across the country and to moderate retail prices, not necessarily to maximise retail profit. It has historically sold fuel below the prices of other marketers. The current discount continues that role, and it is a commercial decision that any retailer is free to make.

Some have asked whether a lower margin means lower profits for NNPCL, and so lower dividends to the Federation. It need not. A smaller margin or temporary zero margin on each litre can be more than offset by selling more litres over time. And a discount builds customer loyalty that lasts well beyond the discount period itself. Together, these can raise NNPC Retailโs profits, and the dividends paid to the Federation: a win-win for consumers and for government. Margin discounts are a routine commercial strategy, used by retailers the world over.
The retail margin on petrol is less than 5 percent of the pump price. A discount within that margin cannot meaningfully widen the gap between prices in Nigeria and in neighbouring countries, where petrol already costs 20 to 40 percent more. It therefore creates no new incentive for smuggling, and no distortion of the kind that subsidy regimes produced in the past.

We recognise that fuel prices continue to weigh on households and businesses. The discount is one of several measures government is pursuing to ease that burden, alongside the expansion of CNG transport, the waiver of taxes and duties on petrol, and the removal of illegal levies that inflate transport costs. Each is designed to bring relief without returning Nigeria to a subsidy regime that the country can no longer afford.

The minister announced a 30-day NNPC petrol discount but gave no price cut, no pump-price formula, and no transporter rules. Selling below the price that would otherwise apply, through a state company, is a subsidy. Calling it โat costโ does not change that. The missing figures are the transparency failure. The reduction looks like an early step toward the subsidised fuel policy Atiku Abubakar says he would restore if elected president.

Peter Obi took a similar approach by shifting the goalpoast in the 2024 Edo governorship election, campaigning for Olumide Akpata of the Labour Party against Asue Ighodalo of the PDP, even though some Obidient figures and associates of Ighodaloโs family backed Ighodalo. Party loyalty and local strategy often outweigh personal or movement ties.
