Pre-NY Options Positioning
vol is still pretty elevated and downside hedging is showing up in pockets.
$QQQ had fresh buying in the 718 puts while the 750 puts were sold, and $NVDA had decent buying in the 235 puts too.
not completely one way though, that huge $NDX Nov call trade from Friday confirmed as opening with OI jumping overnight.
$NFLX / $META / $TSLA are all pricing much bigger moves than usual today too.

AAPL and NVDA are now free to try on the terminal, alongside ETH.
ETH’s still live and free. AAPL and NVDA come in as of the previous close, so you get the full options read on both, the options profile, walls, gamma levels, the strike ladder and key levels, drawn right on the chart.
two of the most-watched names in the market, free to look at
and some other updates come with it, a quick thread:

alerts just got a big upgrade:
- telegram delivery, alerts straight to your telegram (connect in ALERTS > sound & delivery)
- set them right off the chart, right-click any price or line you’ve drawn, or click the bell by the scale
- order book alerts on BTC/ETH, walls pulled or eaten, icebergs, sweeps
- new types: “levels moved” (call/put wall or flip shifts X%) and liquidations ($ or % of OI)
- pause all, or set nightly quiet hours
gamma flips, flow, level breaks, the lot, now wherever you want them

$BTC
NY was basically straight up, but it was mainly OI being added, diverged with spot cvd
0DTE options flow is pretty dead here too, basically flat on both calls and puts.
further out is kinda interesting. around +$38m net calls bought at 90k across all expiries, while 95k is around -$26m net sold.
the larger tape looks pretty similar, a bunch of 85k / 89-90k call structures

tomorrow will interesting with CPI + Anthropic showing Q3 numbers to investors.
in short, people are paying for downside into tomorrow.
BTC 0DTE puts are heavily bid, 25d skew +3.1% with put IV 24.9% vs calls 21.8%.
$IBIT front expiry looks similar, 25d skew +2.9% with puts bid.
further out is a different story though, around +143k calls net bought with ~48k puts net sold across the rest of the week.
near-term hedging into the event, but not really the same defensive positioning further out.

Pre-NY
yesterday's flow leaned a bit more defensive into CPI week.
$SPY around -$35m net calls / +$14m puts, while $QQQ had around +$58m net put buying.
QQQ downside was one of the cleaner standouts too, 11.6k Oct 30 751 puts traded vs 891 OI with 99% bought at the ask.
underneath it was still pretty split. $NVDA -$68m net calls / $AMD -$26m, while $MSFT +$29m and $META +$91m net calls.
vol is pricing a bit more movement than usual too, SPY around ±0.81% / QQQ ±1.26% for today

longs getting forced closed pre-asia session, ~500m in OI taken out
some downside protection got added too, puts slightly bid with buying showing up around 81k / 82k further out

NY Open Options Flow
index flow was pretty mixed yesterday, but there was more selling underneath it.
$NVDA calls around -$29m net with +$16m puts bought, $AMD calls -$50m and $AVGO calls -$27m.
$AAPL was one of the cleaner exceptions with around +$12m net call buying.
bigger standout was $AMD 640 Oct30 calls, 6.6k traded vs 560 OI with 92% sold at the bid. OI added 5.7k overnight so looks like a pretty decent new position.
$MU was the opposite, 2.6k 1080 Oct30 calls traded with 91% bought at the ask, OI +1.9k overnight.

lots of shorts coming on through the move lower, spot coming off
another -$238.6m Spot ETF outflow reported for yesterday so far, with $IBIT still missing
after yesterday's move, options flows aren't leaning massively bearish.
EOW flow is a little more defensive though, with some put buying around 80-82k while calls are net sold overall.

how is the new charting beta looking?
NY Open⌛️
83,358,sitting just above the 83,200 put wall after a session of lower highs.
Below the front flip @ 83,845 so dealers are short gamma and moves extend.
OI falling CVD −1.57B, net shorts building into the lows. Longs are exiting while shorts press late into support.
Hold 83,200 and accept above 83,450: 83,725 nPOC, then the 83,845 flip, then 84k.
Lose 83,200: 83,000 ( +5.8M gamma ), then the 82,727 liq cluster.
Line in the sand for me: 83,200.

Pre-NY Positioning
$SPY / $QQQ still sitting short gamma here, with most of the big tech names short gamma too.
yesterday's options flow had some pretty big SPY upside activity though. 89k of the Oct 14 790 calls traded against only ~800 OI, with 81% bought at the ask.
$IWM had similar upside flow further out, 18.8k Nov 287 calls traded with 99% bought at the ask.
vol is still pricing more movement than we've actually been getting recently too. SPY priced ~0.8% vs ~0.5% average realized over the last 20 sessions

0DTE flow and EOW options flow pretty flat
further out there is still some bigger call buying at 88k / 90k, but also plenty being sold at 95k.
$IBIT is a little more active this week, around +31k calls and +18k puts net bought, mostly clustered around 46-50.
basically just chopping around, the usual boring conditions
ETF flows starting the week negative too, but not fully reported yet. only ARKB in so far at -$85.2m
