An undergraduate seminar will give students the opportunity to understand the impact of BRI - through expert speakers and field visits to Huawei, CICT, and Port City Colombo. Students can see the relationship first-hand and form their own judgement on what BRI brings to Sri Lanka.

#Opinion: The message from the 18th #BRICS Summit reinforces the distinction that reform is not replacement, choice is not confrontation, and strategic autonomy is not hostility. Labeling BRICS simply as anti-Western misunderstands one of its central attractions. Many of its mem-bers are not searching for a new bloc to join; instead, they are seeking greater freedom from the expectation that they must belong exclusively to any bloc at all. globaltimes.cn/page/202609/1…

#APEC is the top event China is hosting in 2026, and could signal greater cooperation. Xi’s U.S. visit will likely focus on easing tensions, while he is expected to confirm his India visit for BRICS, alongside a massive Chinese business delegation.

China has initiated two key global organizations: the World Artificial Intelligence Cooperation Organization (WAICO) , established in Shanghai in July 2026 with 29 founding members, and the International Organization for Mediation (IOMed) , headquartered in Hong Kong and launched in May 2025 with 32-33 signatory states. Both fill critical gaps in the global governance system—WAICO addresses the lack of coordinated AI regulation, while IOMed is the world's first intergovernmental body dedicated exclusively to international dispute mediation.

As the SCO meets in Bishkek, a deeper story is unfolding: the Global South seeks not just a seat at the table where the fundamental rules had already been written – but wants a voice in writing the rules. @MayaMajueran The SCO's appeal lies in its principles: sovereignty, mutual respect, consultation, non-interference, and recognition that countries with different political systems and economic models can nevertheless cooperate. After all, a multipolar order should not mean replacing one center of dominance with another. It should mean more choices, diversified finance, and development based on mutual benefit – not hierarchy. Read the full article: 👉l1nq.com/rfcn458

Due to colonial past, mistrust among Asian nations is the core challenge we need to address. India struggles to engage Pakistan, Thailand and Cambodia face tensions, and engagement with China often triggers India’s national-security concerns and none can operate without U.S. diplomacy. That’s why the Silk Road needs its own shared values built on trust, sovereignty, connectivity and mutual prosperity.
What’s the single biggest challenge for Asia? @YRanaraja from @BRI_SL highlights on @CGTNOfficial Replay link: cgtn.com/tv/replay?id=DCJIDA…

The global perception landscape is changing. For decades, the United States occupied a dominant position in international public opinion. The latest Pew Research Center survey, however, points to a notable turning point: for the first time in more than two decades, China is viewed more favorably than the United States across a larger number of countries, a Sri Lankan expert wrote in a column xhtxs.cn/becz
