We now have intel that another strike is being prepared – targeting our energy sector, bridges across the Dnipro, and civilian infrastructure. The Air Force and the Armed Forces of Ukraine overall are preparing to protect us. We need interceptor missiles for our Patriots. Every agreement matters, and every day counts when it comes to deliveries. We're asking our partners very strongly: please don't put off deliveries.
Please stay safe, given the threat of missile attacks. Glory to Ukraine!

Russia gave him a choice — betray Ukraine or die in prison.
Volodymyr Mykolayenko, the former mayor of Kherson, refused to serve the occupiers and spent more than three years in russian captivity, where he was beaten with batons and fists and tortured with electric shocks from the very first day.
When russia invaded in 2022, Mykolayenko joined the territorial defense forces. A few weeks later, he was abducted, stuffed into a car trunk, and transferred through prisons in Crimea, as well as in the Voronezh and Vladimir regions. The torture did not stop for a single day.
For every word spoken in Ukrainian, he was beaten. Prisoners were fed potato peels, watery soup, and a single piece of bread per day. For vitamins, they gathered nettles growing by the fence. In the morning, the guards played Orthodox sermons on the radio; in the evening, they tortured the prisoners.
Russian officers offered him money, safety, and any position he wanted in the occupation administration. He refused. They lined him up against a wall and staged a mock execution.
“I told them I have two grandsons — they will continue my life,” he recalls.
In 2022, Mykolayenko refused early release so that a gravely ill young prisoner could take his place. Later, he accidentally overheard from an investigator that Kherson had been liberated. “That was the day I truly felt free,” he says.
On August 24, 2025 — Ukraine’s Independence Day — he was freed during a prisoner exchange. He returned exhausted but unbroken. His mother’s home was destroyed, and his own apartment damaged.
“I will return to Kherson — to rebuild it and to defend it again, if necessary.”

⚡️ Zelenskyy says that Ukraine needs German Taurus missiles specifically to destroy Russian missile launch sites.
Speaking to German broadcaster ZDF, he emphasized that targeting launch platforms is Ukraine’s only option to counter ballistic missile strikes without sufficient air defense systems.

🇺🇦 Zelensky on Russian soldiers dying in Ukraine:
“I’m not crying when I see Russian soldiers who came to our land to kill our people dying.”
He says Putin made the decision to send them into another country, but those soldiers still bear responsibility for their actions.
Russia invaded Ukraine. Not the other way around.
No one forced Russia to start this war. And no one should expect Ukrainians to apologize for defending their own lives.
This ‼️ 👇
To @FLOTUS / @MELANIATRUMP :
The cruelity of this war on civilians in Ukraine wouldn't be possible in the first place, if there where no megalomaniacs like putin and those who want to profit off this war. Think twice before you call russians "humanitarians" and rather watch, what putin and his russians committed in Kyiv, Zaporizhzhia ... this week alone. - And don't you dare to equate the civilian lives of children, women and pensioners with those of russian soldiers committing warcrimes on Ukrainian soil on a daily basis. This is just disgusting.

“And this is wrong, because there is one aggressor and one victim, and in fact, to stop the war, the pressure must be on the aggressor,” added the EU’s chief diplomat.

The ceasefire in Oleshky would not be possible without President Putin and President Zelensky. Their cooperation establishes a meaningful precedent for advancing durable peace throughout the region.
As yesterday’s historic moment in the White House concluded, I shared personal letters I drafted to President Putin and President Zelensky.
