Google Said : PEACE is the first self-published comic book title created by commercial illustrator and comic artist Frankie B. Washington, originally released in 1993. Washington, a graduate of the Butera School of Art with decades of freelance experience, considers this independent project his "most prized endeavor" and the official beginning of a prolific comic book career. [1, 2]
Story and Premise
The narrative of PEACE relies on a creative, meta-fictional premise: [1]
•The Frame Story: The universe is separated from others by a cosmic void known as the "great boundary". As a parallel universe dies, a "Wildgod" named Menoah transmits his history into a recording unit called a "Gloz". This device breaches the void and lands in Massachusetts, where it is found by comic creator Frankie B. Washington, who sits down at his drawing board to adapt the transmission into a comic. [1]
•The Main Plot: Starting in Issue #1, the story shifts forward to the year 2192. Boston has become a futuristic city-state celebrating "Liberation Day" after defeating alien invaders known as the Gomas. Instead of cosmic gods, the series settles into a sci-fi sociology narrative focusing on Boston political corruption, cybernetic gangs, and friction between factions known as "Norms" and "Cymers". [1]
Legacy and Current Status
PEACE was printed on traditional newsprint and stands as a major milestone for Washington. Over the years, he has made multiple attempts to revitalize and reboot the intellectual property. [1, 2]
The independent spirit of PEACE laid the groundwork for his subsequent career, which includes over 27 comic projects. This trajectory eventually led to his popular, long-running crowdfunded sci-fi/western indie series, Kaijus & Cowboys. [1, 2, 3]
