The pupils were a great audience during my assembly, and they produced pages and pages of work during my activities.

These days, rather than heading off to the Cheltenham Literature Festival in October, Grangefield School hosts its very own event, bringing authors, books, and a celebration of reading into school.
Having been part of the Grangefield Literature Festival last year, I had the honour of kicking off this year’s event on Monday 12th October.
After my morning assembly, I hosted workshops for pupils from every single year group. Everyone got stuck into my activities, produced fantastic work, and blew me away with their creativity. I gave away so many certificates that I almost depleted my whole stash! And congratulations to Hattie, who won my dragon prize! 🐉
A huge thank you to everyone at Grangefield School for inviting me back. I had such a wonderful day with you all again. It was a pleasure to help you get this year’s festival underway, and I hope to join you for many more literature festivals over the coming years.

I wrote WARNING: Magic Can Be Dangerous! with reluctant readers as well as avid bookworms in mind.
I wanted to write an appealing and captivating story that children would be eager to pick up… and unable to put down.
At the heart of the story is Tyler, an ordinary boy who discovers that he can do EXTRAordinary things!
Of course, discovering that you have magic at your fingertips and can conjure up anything you want sounds fantastic…
Until things start going wrong!
And then horribly, horribly wrong!!! 😬
There’s magic, mischief and laughs aplenty when nothing quite goes according to plan for poor Tyler.

Three book covers over the past three years, and Theo is only 14!
I was lucky enough to meet Theo Jarvis during one of my early FREE school visits. He was just 12 at the time, and he mentioned how much he’d love to illustrate a children’s book cover. Thanks to my wonderful publisher, @CranthorpeBooks, that idea quickly became a reality, and he’s gone on to illustrate three covers in the Words of WARNING collection:

What a letdown! 😳
For the first time ever during one of my FREE school visits, I arrived too late to deliver my assembly.
On Wednesday 7th October, I feel I really let Holte School down.
I always allow plenty of extra time for travelling, but when a journey that should have taken 1 hour 7 minutes ended up taking more than 3 hours (because a section of the M5 unexpectedly closed), I spent the whole time wondering if I was EVER going to get there.
Thankfully, I arrived just in time to launch straight into my first workshop... very out of breath after running across the car park, dragging my author trolley behind me.
Yet despite the awful start to the day, the rest of the visit went swimmingly, with four fantastic workshops for various Year 7 and 8 pupils. They launched straight into my activities, regardless of missing my assembly introduction, and they produced some super creative writing and brilliant book cover designs.
Lots of certificates were handed out throughout the sessions, and it was lovely to hear so many pupils read aloud.
A huge thank you to everyone at Holte School for being so understanding and for such a lovely visit. ❤️📚
