Who cares what I think about the way young people be dressing?
The New York Times, apparently.

Having worked for Canadians for two decades, I was much less scandalized to hear the FBI trying to crack down on dog fuckers in its ranks.

Probably pareidolia but it’s hard to not read Oedipa Maas in Crying of Lot 49 as a direct caricature of Anais Nin circa Spy in the House of Love, just bumped back one Freudian stage of psychosexual development from ana(i)l to oral, same wayward wifeness, similar moon-thing.
Both exemplary portraits of that micro-decade after the 50s stopped being “The Fifties” & before the 60s became “The Sixties.”
Somewhere I have a list of all the reckless news items reported on 9/11 morning, when broadcast news was basically putting every phoned-in tip straight on the anchor’s desk. They include:
Other funny media memory from that day besides al Qaeda being shortlisted behind ETA, the PLO, & whichever IRA was still active post-Good Friday (C?) was the common sentiment that “that pussy Bush better not do nothing.” You can hear this in Stern’s 9/11 ep but it was everywhere.
Ties in with a thing I’ve tried to explain to friends under 40 that the biggest difference in America pre-9/11 was that basically no one worshipped cops or soldiers.
Or to regurgitate a point from an old substack:

I wrote a meandering thing about “walking as spellcraft” & bailing on your life on substack.
Don’t worry, it’s as fruity as it sounds.

My favorite memory of 9/11 was 2-3 hours in when a “terrorism expert” on one of the major networks claimed that the most credible perpetrator of the attacks was the Basque separatist group ETA.
