This is what reportedly happened between 🇳🇬 soldiers and a Mobile Police team in Bassa, Plateau State. A 27-year-old man, Suleiman Adamu, was reportedly shot dead. When the 🇳🇬 soldiers arrived in the community, they observed what appeared to be a gunshot wound to his chest. According to the community leaders implicated Mobile Police personnel operating in the area. The soldiers then attempted to intercept the police team to establish what happened and prevent the situation from escalating. The soldiers further reported that the police team initially failed to stop. During the ensuing confrontation, about six tear-gas canisters were allegedly fired toward the soldiers, while the police commander was accused of failing to restrain personnel who allegedly insulted the soldiers. When two arms of the security forces end up confronting each other, the priority should be establishing the truth, protecting civilians and preventing further escalation. No matter the uniform, accountability must apply to everyone.
