lol.
The NBA is formally stepping into the prediction markets ecosystem.
The league announced agreements Monday morning with Kalshi and Polymarket that will allow the companies to use official league data and intellectual property and give the league control over what trades the companies are allowed to offer.

Alright I know I’m just a nepo baby so maybe take this with a grain of salt, but these growth numbers look pretty good to me idk:
- WNBA on ESPN averaged 1.4M viewers in 2026, up 17% YoY, 3rd straight year of ESPN viewership records
- WNBA playoff first round averaged 1.30M, up 37% from last year, highest on record
- WNBA on ESPN outdrew MLB on ESPN (1.4M vs 1.12M) and nearly doubled NHL on ESPN (1.4M vs 760K)
I do understand the scheduling criticisms but objectively, league is in a great place.

The Finals are averaging around 18K in attendance
A couple million TV viewers
Great performances by one of the W’s biggest star
And none of that warranted a tweet from Bill Simmons
But as SOON as he had an opportunity to use his platform to piss on the W? He jumps all over it

I cannot tell you how frustrating “even a week ago” is in this context. What do you MEAN this request wasn’t made a week ago??? Atlanta beat Golden State by 15 in their gym to even the series and nobody thought “huh maybe we should check on the arena for a potential game 6”???
Replying to @ramonashelburne
Had these requests been made a few weeks ago… or even a week ago, sounds like more could’ve been done. The issues with the Friday/Tuesday construction were 3 days between Games 5/6 AND 6/7, plus concerns about playing on Election Night and logistical issues of moving two Finals games.
The more I think about it, the stupider this change is. If somebody wins the chip on Thursday, not only will their time be celebrate be cut short, they most likely won’t even be celebrate like normal. Can’t spray champagne when two teams gotta use the locker rooms in 3 hours

My instinct is that a 12:30pm ET weekday tipoff almost isn’t worth it? Like wouldn’t it just be better to play at Gateway?
Can confirm Game 6 of the WNBA Finals will be played Thursday at 12:30 pm ET at State Farm Arena in Atlanta. (@ramonashelburne first)

After a weekend of nonstop frantic discussions and negotiation, Game 6 of the WNBA Finals will be played Thursday at 12:30 pm at 17,000-seat State Farm Arena in Atlanta, sources told ESPN.
The Atlanta Hawks-Cleveland Cavaliers game that night will move back to 8 pm to accommodate the doubleheader, just as the Hawks did for Game 4. This allows a potential Game 7 to remain scheduled for Halloween at Chase Center in San Francisco.
All three Finals games in Atlanta have required hurried adjustments to the schedule at State Farm Arena. It took collective efforts from the WNBA, NBA, the Hawks, State Farm Arena, Dream, Valkyries and broadcast partners to figure out the best course of action again.
By moving the game earlier in the day, the WNBA avoided a scenario where a potential championship game was played inside the Dream’s home arena, the 3,500 seat Gateway Center.
The other option under strong consideration was moving Game 6 to an open date at State Farm Arena on Friday and Game 7 to an open date at Chase Center on Tuesday, November 3.
I guess we're watching a finals game at work now. Bay Area fans gonna wake up and turn the game on. This is hilarious on all accounts.

DC United doing the begging and not the Washington Spirit is legit frying me. Team hasn't had a winning record in years
D.C. United wants the city to pitch in $300 million to help add 8,000 seats and a roof on Audi Field, saying it would expand the number of events there. Critics say it's an unnecessary public subsidy, and the Washington Spirit is an X factor in the debate: washingtonsun.com/metro/audi…
