Let’s get something factually straight. If you support schedule three over Hemp, you are a prohibitionist cheering on the prohibition of cannabis. You’re not a businessman. You’re not a savior, you’re simply grifter, your the reason prohibition exists!

I very frequently publish well-written op-eds that I happen to disagree with the conclusions of, because Marijuana Moment is a forum for people in our movement to stay informed and hash out internal debates. That said, Aaron Smith in this new piece does a very good job of articulating many of my own thoughts and opinions about why it's wrong—ethically, politically, economically—for marijuana businesses to partner with prohibitionists on federally recriminalizing hemp THC products.

A pro cannabis super PAC spent $1.4M on ads supporting vulnerable House Republicans who voted to delay the hemp ban. The PAC, backed by Curaleaf, Trulieve and Verano and others, raised $13 million in 20 days and shares a treasurer with MAGA Inc. From Puck: puck.news/the-gops-trump-sho…

One of the biggest things I’ve learned after years in this industry is that being good at what you do isn’t enough. You have to see the whole board. If you’re in marijuana and only pay attention to marijuana, you’re missing what hemp is doing. If you’re in hemp and ignore what is happening in state regulated marijuana, you’re missing part of the picture too. If you only understand retail but don’t understand manufacturing, distribution, margins, testing and supply chains, you’re operating with blinders on. If you understand the business but don’t understand the science, eventually somebody who does will expose the holes in your argument. If you understand the science but ignore legislation, regulation and politics, somebody can change the rules underneath you before you even realize what happened. And if you spend all your time protecting the specific piece of the industry that makes you money today, you may completely miss where the consumer and the market are going tomorrow. You need to understand hemp, marijuana, medical, adult use, cannabinoids, testing, manufacturing, retail, distribution, federal law, state law, politics, public perception and most importantly, the consumer. You don’t have to be the smartest person in every room. But you damn well better understand how all the rooms connect. The people who can see the big picture are usually the ones who see what’s coming before everyone else does. Lift your head up and take a look around.

everyone told @TheDankInformer this would happen. In your efforts to kill hemp, you brought down ALL of cannabis down with you! 🤡🤡🤡🤡 @two3king @jamiecampbell
THC does not become harmless because it comes from a product marketed as “hemp.” Research links THC use—particularly frequent use, cannabis use disorder, and exposure to increasingly potent products—with a higher risk of psychosis and schizophrenia. When psychosis occurs, treatment may include antipsychotic medication. These medicines can be beneficial and sometimes lifesaving, but they can also cause significant side effects and require careful medical supervision. That raises an important question: If commercial THC can contribute to conditions requiring ongoing healthcare and medication, why are prevention advocates accused of protecting “Big Pharma”? Preventing avoidable illness is not about protecting an industry. It is about protecting Texas families, educating about THC—whether it is sold as marijuana or hemp. The Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles launched—but then deleted—a new ad that aims to discourage marijuana-impaired driving but that actually advertises how cannabis helps people relax by, for example, watching a nature documentary while snacking, taking a soothing bubble bath and tending to plants in a backyard garden. marijuanamoment.net/virginia…

The Cannabis Debate Is Not Just About Legalization Anymore, It’s About Who Benefits Generations of activists have protested against cannabis prohibition, taking to the streets in cities around the world to lobby for legalization. In many U.S. states and in Canada, cannabis is legally sold through well-established, for-profit markets. Recreational cannabis is now legal in nearly half of U.S. states, while more than three-quarters of Americans live in an area with at least one licensed dispensary. #Cannabis forbes.com/sites/sarahsincla…
