I’m so proud about this review of Red Devils on D-Day. To have someone of Mike Peter’s standing say such things, is truly marvellous.
Here is my latest review of Neil Barber's - Red Devils on D Day. A comprehensive account of the 6th (British) Airborne Division missions East of the River Orne.

Thoroughly enjoyed doing this podcast with the history syndicate. Some nice ‘edgy’ questions too ! 😊
Did you know about the destruction of the bridge at Troarn on D-Day? @Barber1944 discusses it at length alongside all the other D-Day bridges destroyed and/or captured by the Red Devils on Day in his latest book!
If you want to get an in depth more well rounded picture of the complexity, effort, initiative and perseverance of D-Day - his book is definately a must read!
It goes a long way to completing the picture alongside the more well known Ranville, Benoville, Merville Battery and Pegasus Bridge actions
I really pleased to have spoken about it with Neil this week on the pod. Great work Neil!

‘Red Devils on D-Day’ centres around the blowing of five bridges across the River Dives and a tributary, the Divette. This would help the 6th Airborne Division to create a defensive buffer for the seaborne bridgehead, its crucial overall task. Sabrestorm Publishing.

Pleased to talk @TenterdenRotary on 6th Airborne & HQ intelligence on D Day where my uncle Capt. John Max served planning coup de main assaults on Pegasus Bridge & Merville Battery. Sadly John & his colleague Freddie Scholes (pictured left & right here) didn’t survive invasion.
