EXCLUSIVE: Elon Musk came to Donald Trump with the plan to throttle Ukraine’s use of SpaceX’s Starshield satellite internet network, sources have told the Telegraph. The tech billionaire made the proposal during the US President’s row with Volodymyr Zelensky over strikes on Russian oil refineries. ‘The reality is that they were both in it,’ a senior source said of Musk’s and Trump’s involvement. But after a night of carnage in Kyiv caused by the slowdown, Musk was alarmed about the possibility of adverse consumer reaction in Europe. The SpaceX boss then proceeded to tweet, blaming the US administration, and ultimately, President Trump for authorising the slowdown. ‘He tweeted out that he was innocent and that it was the US administration that did it,’ the source said.

Everyone is treating this as a mystery but both the Telegraph and WSJ reported Elon Musk proposed this to the president, who gave him the green light.
🇺🇦🇺🇸 The Starlink shutdown may not have come from a direct order, according to investigative journalist Johnathan Swan. Investigative journalist Johnathan Swan: “The Ukraines are still complaining about the speed, so I don't know what's going on inside Musk's companies.”

For those of you wondering how to reconcile Reuters and WSJ "exclusives" on whether Musk or White House throttled Ukraine's access to Starshield, well @Barnes_Joe at the Telegraph had a credible explanation for the conflicting accounts five days ago.

I heard that these trilateral talks were actually agreed last week before Steve Witkoff's visit to St Peterburg to meet Vladimir Putin.
U.S. official: Special Envoy Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner proposed a trilateral meeting at the technical level between the US, Russia, and Ukraine. This was accepted by the Ukrainians in Oslo yesterday and by the Russians in St. Petersburg today

Russia is using a network of holiday homes in the Baltic region as “Trojan horses” to wage hybrid war on the West, a Telegraph investigation can reveal. Western officials are taking action against hundreds of Russian-linked homes in Lithuania, Sweden and Norway, which have been bought close to strategic military sites or key infrastructure ⤵️ telegraph.co.uk/world-news/2…

The Wall Street Journal confirms earlier Telegraph reporting - and accounts from my sources inside Ukraine - that Elon Musk and SpaceX were responsible for the deliberate crippling of Ukrainian military communications.

US and Ukrainian officials are discussing why Kyiv sometimes receives warnings of ballistic missile attacks too late - or not at all. The talks have yet to identify a single cause, but have touched on several possible factors: - Potential sabotage targeting communications nodes used to relay intelligence to Ukraine via Europe. - The sheer volume of global early-warning information that must be processed, including threats beyond Ukraine. - Russian tactics, including the use of S-400 air-defence systems in a ground-attack role and closer to the border. -Changes in how Ukraine uses the intelligence it receives. Read our @Telegraph coverage of the talks here: telegraph.co.uk/world-news/2…

Her name was Angelina. She was just one year old. Today, a Russian missile killed her and her mother on a children’s playground in Ukraine’s 🇺🇦Kharkiv region. And yet, many seem to believe that business as usual with Russia is possible. How utterly sickening🤬🤬🤬

The Putin problem: How Ukraine is dividing Europe’s populist Right
Russia’s illegal war in Ukraine has split Europe’s populist Right into appeasers and opponents of Moscow. It is their difference in approach that has stopped them from forming a cohesive political bloc to challenge the Europhile centre-Right’s dominance of the EU. “I have a question for Nato generals: are you absolutely sure you can handle this? No need to answer." I interviewed Robert "Magyar" Brovdi, the commander of Ukraine’s unmanned systems forces, in an underground command post in eastern Ukraine. We covered a huge range of topics, from possible mobilisation in Russia, to the “terrifying” pace of AI integration into warfare and a “loss of time” in Britain’s development of its own drone forces.
