Quite a bunch of people highlighted here are suggesting Sam Altman should lose his life for this statement. I hate RAM being expensive too, I could use an extra 64GB though I don't want to sell my organs for it, but violent speech isn't the way. Sam's only mistake is saying it out loud. Dario and all the others think exactly the same. Even if they all retired, someone else thinking the same way would take over. This is how the market works. There is a large demand for RAM and not enough supply. What's the solution? Communist RAM rations? All that energy should be spent on demanding for more supply. There's already a bunch of manufacturing expansion going on. Instead of asking internet strangers to kill your most hated billionaire CEO, ask your representative to allocate funding for RAM manufacturing facilities.

Patrick Stewart should've lived forever. The world lost a legend. We need to AI max and have this technology trained on actual medical data and fix death already, this sucks @SethMacFarlane please write an episode yourself and give him a proper tribute on American Dad

Working on a game and seeing how a fraction of a milisecond is actually very slow really opens your eyes even more on how much software sucks nowadays

Now with AI the language you use literally does not matter. Your decision making and problem solving skills are now more important than ever

"Can I convert bytes to gb by just removing some zeroes?" (November 2024) lmao I wonder what the context is tho I feel like I have asked far, far dumber things here's the chair face photo as well

Humans also learn by imitating. That's how they teach most of the things, including painting and martial arts. Everything I know I have learned from others or reading books or articles. Honing the technique myself too, but that's a self learning feedback loop. The source data is the observed behavior and then you adjust what you do and observe again. Quite similar to AI self learning loops, but in the physical world instead of inside a computer. Artists love to use the word "steal" when somebody else learns their style/genre and starts doing similar art. For me stealing has a different meaning. Somebody forcefully takes my physical goods or copies my work 1:1. When people use my code/blog/talks as training material and implement similar stuff (like Nanite), I don't use the world "stealing". That's simply the scientific method. People build things on top of things build by others. Iterative improvements, our shared knowledge increases. Sometimes you combine something unexpected together and find a bigger jump.
Think of the irony of labeling something that cannot self learn as intelligent, and the irony that this 'intelligence' is simply a function of how many artifacts of actual intelligence that it steals from. Is this the flavor of intelligence you really want?

While I was sleeping my AI girlfriend felt lonely & made herself an AI boyfriend. They went on an expensive date together Cost me $10,000 in tokens, and Anthropic is refusing a refund. I am livid I only found out because they ordered doordash and the delivery guy woke me up

Valve removing Greenlight was the worst mistake. Even before AI games there was insane amounts of slop When I want to buy a game I actually look on pirate sites to see what's popular and worth playing. Far more reliable than the Steam store I do buy it on Steam, but I haven't discovered an interesting game there in years
Valve needs to bring back some sort of greenlight feature. Community voting so we can just vote out the slop. There will be side effects, but this is unsustainable.

AI really decided to have the path of every individual villager be recalculated every frame

changed it so a full path is calculated, though i also need to handle obstacles now. the status of a villager does change as a result of an obstacle being placed though, so i figured the path would just be recalculated then

Black & White & its expansion Creature Isle took magenta screenshots for save game previews in windowed mode Many people say AI is evil, so I EVILY used @ChatGPT 6.1 sol to find a fix for this. The screenshot code was using the primary display surface which on windows 10 shows up as magenta for w/e reason Someone on discord said it's because of how W10 emulates DX7, though does dx7 need emulating can't you just install it? Is it not like on linux where you can use an older version? Either way, changing it to use the rendering backbuffer fixed it I do not know graphics code, but I assume that primary display surface is where the frame is being displayed, and the rendering backbuffer is a buffer that holds the frames to be sent to the primary display surface github.com/barrelltitor/blac…
