It will happen, said the majority of the world's countries, which came together yesterday to launch a global reform of the current deeply unfair tax system. Only one bloc of nations voted against it. . SIMPLE AIM The idea is extremely simple: revise the system so rich people also pay taxes. The proposal for a global tax convention was passed at the United Nations yesterday by a large majority vote of countries yesterday, including the big players: China, India, Indonesia, South Africa, and the Russian Federation. Only eight countries voted against it: USA, Israel, UK, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, South Korea and Japan—a group well known at UN headquarters as "the Washington-controlled bloc".
