We'd love to see this built 👀 You could absolutely use @hiveblocks to do this-- one of the biggest aspects of social media is how you present and connect posts and people. With tags, communities, shares and follows built into using the Hive blockchain for long or short form posting already, the special sauce needed is a great discovery algorithm and a different type of interface that focuses heavily on moving you through people as you follow a thread of things that represents their inner workings. Showing coin or token rewards or focusing on that mechanic, for older content or brand new, isn't a requirement; unlike the other chain mentioned, there's not one type of site or content that defines how you use Hive, whether for social media or specialized info storage. Our purpose is tools for connection: follows that can't be made or removed by anyone but you (looking at you X), likes and reshares that stay as part of your valuable data and voluntary social identity at base layer that only you control, and the ability to post censorship resistant content that instantly iterates across all interfaces and can be displayed in any way you dream of sorting and using it, with granularity tools for personally controlling who and what you see. We're the longest running open source, open access social graph to ever exist, with almost a decade of content and history leading us up to the new posts made every day right now, and it's all there for anyone to curate and display in ways that are meaningful to them. While there is an inherent reward system available, it doesn't have to be used or even referred to by what you build. Incentive alignment and parallel economies are a big part of web3 values and are used as ways of representing the fairness of sharing the value of user generated content with the people making it, but even though they are novel and equitable tools in the kit, they're not required as the central point to what we design in the cryptospace. Admittedly, there are very few groups who have taken this stance while building on any chain yet- a lot of that is onboarding and a lot of it is the natural pushback against creators being long shit out from thier ownership and value in our social world today. We dreamt of a chain that could be used for human connection, and the possibilities that the open source, fully decentralized tools we've built support that vision are owned by all. No one can take the ability to post, or the social connections you make and value away from you, and if the front end died...the next builder could pick up the torch and create a new way to keep tumbling along. There are no fees for posting, because it makes no sense to erode your assets or spend continual cash to take part in building gathering spaces. The Tumblr that shaped a lot of social media today encompassed immaculate vibes and encouraged momentum in finding the esoteric, the weird, the beautiful, and the things that resonated with you. The next wave of social media taught the world to gatekeep and collect insane amounts of information to sell out from under you and to use proprietary controlled access points that broke a lot of the 'social' bits of our brains. We want to see people creating the social gathering points they love, in the ways they choose, while offsetting the worst of what web2 social media made normal...we deserve better ❤️♦️
