Weekend hack: HackerTube. I was annoyed with YouTube's recommendations so I had Claude filter down 43M comments over 20 years of HN to 6,454 videos that keep being recommended. *Significantly* better viewing experience, ~2 hours with Opus 5.5:
hackertube.org/
- Excellent recs without any logins (state is kept in local browser session)
- Thumbnail is a representative frame from middle of the video instead of the super duper A/B test hyper-optimized user uploads
- Underlying data from the comment analysis as one zip file, point your Claude at it and ask for your own version
- HackerTube Longs ✊
A bit more on the process:
I use Claude Code (desktop app for Mac), Opus 5.5 on Medium effort as my default. I only talk to Claude and have it do everything, the only "manual work" I helped with in tandem was in the browser (reminiscent of MenuGen): 1) I had to create some kind of API key from Google Cloud UI to query YouTube for video metadata, 2) I booted up a VPS box for serving and 3) I bought the domain name. Once the box was up I gave Claude the IP and told it update, secure, harden, deploy and optimize the code, and it did the whole thing.
Many awesome projects that would have normally taken weeks/months even can now be few-shotted for breakfast. What else are we not thinking of.

multiple big tech companies have essentially one (very well paid) person who really knows how to use AI, and this “AI fixer” is their great hope — taking on projects and educating others.
problem is, some don’t have anyone, and a lot of those frontier people would rather work in a broadly AI-native company and find out what a team of people going this fast can do
This is INSANE. Cisco’s president Jeetu Patel has given a 27-year-old engineer unlimited AI tokens to try to rewrite 98% of the company’s legacy code within 24 months, Fortune reports.
Padmanabhan Krishnamurthy thinks he can do it with a two-person team. He has just four weeks to prove the approach.

Agaram 2.5B is out. It's a Tamil-first language model we trained from scratch at @MuraiLabsHQ , our small non-profit lab. As far as we know, it's the first Tamil model trained from scratch that can call tools.
It chats in Tamil, Tanglish and English, translates, and can call tools. We're releasing the base model, chat model and GGUF files under Apache-2.0. You can download it and run it offline on your own laptop.
The first chat model had a four-day public preview. Seeing where it fell short with real users helped us decide what to work on. We rebuilt the fine-tuning around what we saw, using 222,662 records.
Thank you to everyone who spent time with that early version.
The video walks through the model. You can try it here:

Every forest has a story but this one is special. It was not an easy decision to plant 2000 saplings using Miyawaki method in 2016 in #Bengaluru.
What followed was endless efforts by many nature lovers to ensure that the patch of land in KR puram Bengaluru becomes an example for many plantations to come. Looking back, all I can say that it was worth it.
At Diesel Loco Shed, KR Puram, Bengaluru, @saytrees_ind began with a simple but ambitious idea: could a small patch of land grow into a thriving urban forest?
Nearly a decade later, the answer stands beneath a canopy reaching 30 feet.
🌱 The idea grew beyond one site. What began with 2,000 saplings became part of a larger journey in urban afforestation, with 60+ urban forests across Bengaluru and many more across India.
We plant the beginning. Nature builds what comes next.

PM @narendramodi will inaugurate the Chinmaya Amrit Mahotsav Global Sammelan on 23 October 2026 at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi. He will also address the gathering on the occasion.
The three-day Sammelan, being held from 23 to 25 October 2026, will bring together over 9,000 participants from India and abroad. It marks the culmination of the year-long celebrations commemorating 75 years of the Chinmaya Mission, a global spiritual movement founded by Swami Chinmayananda in 1951 to make the wisdom of Vedanta and the Bhagavad Gita accessible to all. Over the decades, the Mission has expanded its work across spiritual education, cultural preservation, youth empowerment and community service.

Introducing tiny.london
A massive isometric pixel map of London, based on amazing NYC demo by @_coenen from 9 months ago
My agent created the dataset, finetuned qwen image LoRA adapter, did a multiday inference run and built an efficient tile viewer!
I wanted to share something I built over the last few weeks: isometric.nyc is a massive isometric pixel art map of NYC, built with nano banana and coding agents.
I didn't write a single line of code.

New paper: AI evaluation is a burgeoning field. How can researchers entering the field understand best practices and open problems?
In our paper, led by @flxcn, we develop a concrete list of open questions and best practices for agent evaluation. We also share recommendations for evaluators, AI companies, policymakers, and more.

📢 New paper: Emerging Trends in AI Agent Evaluation
Evals are central to how we measure AI progress. This was pretty easy when we just evaluated ML models, but agents add lots of complexity. To establish a shared foundation, we surveyed 33 eval trends:
sage.cs.princeton.edu/trends…
We center our paper around three main questions:
1️⃣ How should we evaluate?
At its core, evaluation asks whether a score means what we think it means. Ensuring validity of these scores gets much harder with agents as their results depend not only on the model but on the scaffold, tools, and environment. We discuss issues on validity, statistical rigor, causal attribution, and contamination, along with the emerging toolkit (LLM judges, log analysis, dynamic benchmarks, shared infrastructure) and newer formats like red-teaming and open-world evaluations.
2️⃣ What do we evaluate?
Evaluation is increasingly moving from synthetic environment and well-scoped benchmarks to realistic deployment scenarios. Beyond what an agent can do on its own, we look at how agents work with people (from simulated users to field experiments and real-world usage data), domain-specific and broader economic impact, dangerous capabilities, security incidents, interaction harms, and effects on organizations and institutions.
3️⃣ Who evaluates?
With agents, evaluators make many consequential choices (such as scaffolds, tools, and budgets). Those choices have a large degree of influence on developers, policymakers, and the general public. We examine what evaluator independence requires, how lab access and funding shape the field, how the rising costs of evaluating frontier AI systems narrow who can evaluate, and where other disciplines outside of AI/ML can contribute to strengthen and improve the evals landscape.
We hope that this paper is a useful resource for researchers (whether new to or already familiar with agent evaluation), as well as policymakers, educators, and anyone building, deploying, or funding evaluations!
