Thank you for being a knowledgeable and proactive advocate for our community! We are grateful for your leadership @SupervisorLusk
Over the weekend, I helped install 2 Little Free Food Pantries at the Hybla Valley Community Center and Hyland South County Gov. Center. I was happy to assist @BeTheGood_DC with their County zoning interpretation which approved the expansion of their pantry network in our County.
Thank you SO MUCH for your incredible generosity! 🤟🎉
Co-op principles in action! NCB packed 100 holiday food bags for @BeTheGood_DC to benefit low-income families at our annual offsite. All the food was ordered and delivered by Fredericksburg Food Co-op. #CoopsCooperating #ConcernforCommunity #WorkingTogether #BuildingCommunity
We appreciate you and are so grateful for the opportunity to work together! 🤟
Thank you @BeTheGood_DC for taking care of our @HollinMeadowsES families! 45 families will have a better Thanksgiving because of you and your #volunteers! #ItTakesAVillage @fcpsnews @FCPS_TitleI @FCPSR3
Thank you for making us part of your special day 6th graders! 🤟
It’s our 6th Grade Fall Festival! Big thanks to our @slespta’s sixth grade coordinators and volunteers for organizing a great day. At one of our civic minded rotations, Ss stuff Be The Good food bags to provide for families with food insecurities. Way to go, dolphins.
We appreciate you SO much! 🤟
So proud of our 1st grade #fhesfoxes for helping our community. This morning they put together 20 fall care packages for local families & @BeTheGood_DC ! @FortHuntES
🤟🤟🤟
@HyblaValleyES oh! Thank you! @BeTheGood_DC a spruce up for our pantry for our families! Beautiful!!
Some of our Little Free Food Pantries are getting a glow up this season thanks to our volunteers’ beautiful friendship rocks! 🤟 Learn more: bethegoodproject.org
We have GOOD news! We’ve been working w/Fairfax Cty to get an official “zoning interpretation” for Little Free Food Pantries. This process put our systems to install + fill the little pantries thru a rigorous review, including w/Ffx County’s Health Dept. bit.ly/3RR8WWF
We are hopeful this zoning interpretation will ease the hurdles of getting approvals to plant more Little Free Food Pantries across the region. We’re also grateful to @SupervisorLusk & his team for their guidance through the process. Learn more! 🤟bit.ly/3RR8WWF
The headline is great, but the policies that made this possible have changed drastically in 2022.
“Experts said that the portrait of hunger in the U.S. would change this year given that many of the assistance programs had lapsed.”
nytimes.com/2022/09/07/us/po…
“Even though we have evidence that these policies worked, we haven’t managed to preserve most of them,” Prof Bowen said. “I’m worried that 2022 is going to be a really hard year for lots of families, and that there isn’t the same sense of urgency that there was two years ago.”
More from CNN:
“The improvements in food security for families may not continue in 2022, experts warn.
“High inflation, particularly for food, is putting a strain on family budgets... [T]he beefed-up child tax credit… was not renewed for this year.”
