I have been very encouraged by JLG's evolution on housing messaging since the primary. She is much more direct about the need to address the crisis in our existing affordable housing stock and preserve these units. This is a great sign.
We can and we must build more homes for all of us.

ALT We will work to stabilize DC's housing market, preserve the affordable housing we already have, and address rent nonpayment while protecting tenants. We must because DC is facing real economic challenges. But we need to create the foundation for ambitious growth. Here’s how →

ALT Legalize high-density, mixed-use buildings near Metrorail and bus stops and on publicly-owned land. Legalize small apartment buildings citywide so Washingtonians have more choices and more opportunities in more neighborhoods. End parking requirements citywide, and encourage minimal parking be built in developments near Metro stations.

Hard not to see the parallels with the Silverman case from 2022: OCF issues a fine right before the election, then the elections board (under two different chairs) rescinds it months afterward. JLG and her supporters drew pretty much that exact comparison at the time.
NEWS: The D.C. Board of Elections just tossed out a $16,000 fine levied by the Office of Campaign Finance in June against @Janeese4DC over allegations that her mayoral campaign impermissibly coordinated with unions. The board said there was no evidence of coordination.

Dukem closing is such a major loss for U Street and the D.C. food scene. The family behind it built something truly special over the years: washingtonpost.com/dc-md-va/…

“I am deeply concerned about MedStar Washington Hospital Center’s decision to close one of its two postpartum maternity units later this month, which will result in an overall reduction of available beds.” Read my full statement below.

.@Janeese4DC to appeal OCF ruling calling it “an absurd order… riddled with factual errors” JLG raises familiar concerns about OCF process “Filing an order without legal merit just before an election follows a disturbing pattern of OCF’s conduct“ @nbcwashington
#BreakingNews - Office of Campaign Finance fines Janeese Lewis George campaign $16,000 and independent Safe & Affordable pac $4,000 after probe of improper union / campaign spending coordinated with her campaign.

NEW: In a statement, @Janeese4DC’s campaign calls the OCF report on allegations of coordination with unions “absurd” and “politically motivated.” She says OCF violated its own process, and did not interview witnesses it said it did. The campaign says it will appeal.
NEWS: The D.C. Office of Campaign Finance is fining @Janeese4DC's campaign $16,000 for having "violated multiple provisions of District campaign finance law and the Fair Elections Program."
OCF is also fining the union-backed @WashDC4all political action committee $4,000.
My campaign for re-election to the SBOE just submitted our first fundraising report. After just 1.5 weeks of fundraising, we hit way over the required number of donors to get into the Fair Elections Program! Thank you to everyone who contributed! Campaign launch coming soon.

JLG’s campaign policy shop is robust. Feedback is sought out, analyzed, & distilled into the platform.
The quality I value most in a leader is a willingness to leave no stone unturned, to seek out differing & dissenting views.
JLG simply doesn’t see disagreement as a threat.
Replying to @ScottGoldstein
Meanwhile in the Janeese listening sessions, it was fully open, freewheeling sessions. No pre-screening, no "I was so excited to ready your platform because..."...just honest conversations about issues in SIX different events. Janeese as mayor= all welcome, all heard!

This is the first “Late Night Hype” of the summer in DC. The Department of Parks and Rec has put these on since 2021 to give teenagers something positive to do. DPR will host weekly events like this for teens until September.
