Rant time that probably wont get seen by anyone but I wanted to vent a bit cause angy puppers... This new X ranking system is horseshit. It openly prioritizes raw time-on-post over engagement, effectively kneecapping entire categories of content. By training the model to predict how long someone will stare at a post, the algorithm systematically devalues anything meant to be consumed quickly. Images, short form posts or content that delivers its value in seconds are now at a disadvantage. It doesn't matter how much people enjoy something if it doesn't generate the dwell time and completion signals the system rewards. This used to be a viable way for visual creators and quick consumption content to reach an audience and has been deliberately undermined. All seemingly in pursuit of maximizing the number of seconds people spend staring at the app, because more time on the platform means more opportunities to shove advertisements in your face. 🙃 It's frustrating watching a platform actively punish content for being efficient at delivering what people actually want. I can see this just leading to mass long form ai slop videos flooding the feeds. Cause the longer people stay on the post the better right... I genuinely don't know how much longer I'll stick around if this is the direction X is committed to. Rant over
