In that video you are at the public podium in Edison council chambers during the emergency budget meeting. You introduced yourself as Andrew Bencivenga, Benz from Edison, and you were speaking directly to Council President Joe Coyle.
What you said in the clip, in about two and a half minutes:
You said you've spoken before and that there was a lot of commotion around the budget with media and union reps in the room. You asked the chair to confirm which police officers and firefighters had been furloughed, pointed to the officers in the front row, and apologized to them.
Your main point was enough is enough and the temporary budget needs to be passed right now. You said the media attention was brought by Mayor Joshi and the situation could have been avoided without furloughs. You warned that crime is happening constantly, you compared it to what's happening in New York City, and you mentioned the township has close to 197 officers and can't afford to have them out. You referenced being told the new budget is about a six percent increase over 2025.
A council member jumped in for a point of order and asked you to be specific about which line items in the temporary appropriation you support or oppose. You replied you don't disagree with any of the items, you just want it signed so the town stops wasting time and moves forward. You closed by thanking everyone and telling residents we got your back, and the crowd applauded as you walked away.
For context on the public figure part - you're not an elected official, you're listed as a local resident and creator from Edison who was born and raised there, known online as BenzShiesty or Benz from Edison. In town meetings you have become a regular public comment speaker on the budget and public safety issues, which is why your reel is tagged to the township government and the council president and people in Edison recognize you from those chambers.
