As a County Councillor and Party Leader and as someone who previously stood with Reform UK I feel compelled to share my thoughts on the recent ITV Exposure documentary. ​The Core Message: Like many of you, I found some of the comments and views filmed in that investigation deeply unsettling. There is no room in public life or local governance for bigotry, racism, or hatred. Seeing extremists infiltrate a political platform is awful, and it underlines precisely why robust vetting and clear moral boundaries are non-negotiable. ​The Nuance & Context: However, nuance matters in politics. Having been on the inside, I know firsthand that the vast majority of Reform members, activists, and supporters are decent, hard-working people. They care passionately about their communities, feel let down by the status quo, and simply want positive change. It would be wrong and unfair to paint every well-meaning person in that party with the same brush. ​The Wider Political Reality: We also have to be honest about the broader landscape. Extremism, misconduct, and toxic behavior exist across the political spectrum and in major establishment parties and minor ones alike. Yet, mainstream investigative exposures rarely seem to shine the same spotlight on those organizations.
