What are 'witches' marks'? 🔮
These intriguing symbols, known as apotropaic marks, were carved into buildings centuries ago to protect people and their valuables.
Despite their close association with witches, they were thought to ward off all different kinds of evil spirits.

Halloween costumes are a lot of fun, but your pet probably won’t enjoy wearing one. 🎃 They can be dangerous and might cause them to injure themselves, especially if they become stressed out by wearing one. We think they’re just as cute without one. 😉

I've just come across this oil painting. It's a view east of the boat builders' yards and barges lining the #Thames foreshore near Stangate, #Lambeth by Pembury, 1853. Searle's boatyard. was probably the most notable in Lambeth at this time.

ALT A view east of the boat builders' yards and barges lining the Thames foreshore near Stangate, Lambeth. Searle's boatyard on the left was probably the most notable in Lambeth at this time. Adjoining are premises belonging to Allen and to the right, North. The bargehouses were also used by royalty and City livery companies to house their ceremonial barges. Digitally enhanced oil painting by R. Pembury, dated 1853.
Its beginning to look a lot like *whispers* panto season...❤️
