My sincere congratulations to His Highness Dr. Eng. Michael Moses Odongo Okune, the Won Nyaci of Lango, on the occasion of his Second Coronation Anniversary celebrations which on the 2nd November, 2026.
As a daughter of Lango and a stakeholder, I am honoured to join fellow leaders, cultural institutions, and the people of Lango in commemorating this significant milestone. I look forward to attending the celebration in recognition of our cultural heritage, traditional leadership, and shared identity.
This anniversary provides an important opportunity for the people of Lango to renew their commitment to unity, mutual respect, peace, and collective development. I believe that our strength as a community lies in our ability to rise above differences, preserve our cultural values, and work together for the benefit of present and future generations.
May this milestone further strengthen the institution of the Won Nyaci and inspire greater solidarity among all the clans and communities of Lango.
Congratulations, Your Highness, on your Second Coronation Anniversary. Long live the Won Nyaci, long live Lango, and may unity remain the foundation of our shared future.

Today, at the 5th Annual Governance and Security Programme Review, I highlighted the critical congestion in Uganda’s juvenile justice facilities, most notably at Kampiringisa National Rehabilitation Centre, where 1,233 children occupy space intended for 780. Urgent ministerial action is imperative to ensure our state care system protects the basic rights and human dignity of these young people.
To resolve this crisis, we are prioritizing faster case processing, expanded diversion mechanisms, facility upgrades, and root-cause reintegration. I also sincerely thank our development partners for supporting the construction of the Moroto Remand Home, vital for expanding access to justice in Karamoja.
I call on Programme leadership and security to immediately convert these resolutions into fully resourced work plans with strict performance metrics. State custody must not be a dead end; our mandate is to protect rights, restore dignity, and ensure every child receives a meaningful second chance.

The 3-day co-creation workshop on the VaLi Nurturing Guide ends in Kampala.
Organised by the Ministry of Gender, Labour and Social Development, the workshop brought together diverse stakeholders, including the Inter-Religious Council of Uganda, intercultural representatives, and CSOs. This collective effort has produced a clear framework.
Next: piloting and validation before approval and roll-out. The Ministry pledges full commitment to the entire process.

Bread prices set to hit Shs 6,500 for a 1kg loaf from next week as bakers pass on higher wheat and fuel costs.

One good pile of local roots can feed a family longer than a couple of loaves and it doesn’t need imported flour.

Buh How will @mtnug recover the money people borrowed through Quickloan? Some borrowers have even travelled abroad and no longer use those SIM cards.
So many reactions to the rise in bread (Loaves) prices…
Meanwhile chapati makers just quietly reduce the size a bit and keep it moving.
No long stories, just smaller chapatis.
