Dear Oba Kosoko @Blvckheart_Levi , Please note that the Lagos State Ministry of the Environment and Water Resources @LasgMOE is not the agency directly responsible for enforcing compliance with noise pollution regulations. This responsibility falls within the statutory mandate of the Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA), which is the appropriate agency to handle complaints and enforcement matters relating to noise pollution. For clarity, the Ministry exercises supervisory and policy oversight over its various agencies, while the agencies are established with specific statutory mandates and are responsible for the day-to-day execution of their respective functions. For instance, LAWMA @Lawma_gov is responsible for waste management, LASPARK @LASPARKLagos handles parks and gardens, LASAA @lasaaonline oversees signage matters within its mandate, while LASEPA @LasepaOfficial is responsible for environmental protection and pollution control, including noise pollution. Although these agencies operate under the Ministry’s supervisory framework, they have distinct operational responsibilities. Consequently, the Ministry does not ordinarily undertake the day-to-day enforcement activities assigned to these agencies. Such matters are appropriately referred to the relevant agency for investigation, enforcement and necessary action. This was Ifelodun Mosque during an enforcement operation by LASEPA, which resulted in its sealing. Noise pollution has absolutely nothing to do with religion. Whenever a complaint is received, we will investigate and take appropriate action in accordance with the law, irrespective of the institution involved. Kindly direct all complaints relating to noise pollution to the Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA) @LasepaOfficial or the General Manager, Dr. Tunde Ajayi @thetundeajayi . Following a complaint by @BigDavery regarding noise pollution from a church, our officials conducted an investigation and confirmed that the church was in violation of environmental regulations and constituted a nuisance to residents in the area. Consequently, the church, The All Christians Gathering Ministry, located at No. 1, Ishola Street, off Clegg, Surulere, was sealed this morning and will remain shut until further notice. We will not tolerate environmental violations or any form of nuisance that disrupts the peace and well-being of residents. All religious institutions, businesses and other establishments are required to comply strictly with environmental regulations. Our enforcement actions will remain firm and decisive. No individual or institution is above the law.
