I couldn't put it down from the moment I started reading. It felt just like a financial horror movie, making my heart pound. Author Bill Browder has written a story about a battle of wisdom and courage between a man and a nation, based on his personal experiences in Russia.

I have written to the Prime Minister, supported by 68 fellow MPs and Peers from across Parliament, calling for urgent intervention in the case of British citizen Ryan Cornelius.
Ryan is now 72 years old. He has already spent more than 18 years in a Dubai prison, and under his current sentence will not be released until 2038, when he will be 84. Seven UN human rights experts have called for his immediate release, warning that his deteriorating health puts him at risk of irreparable harm.
Our letter sets out clear steps the Government must now take, including a public request for his release ahead of UAE National Day on 2 December, and targeted sanctions if that request is refused. The Prime Minister must now respond and make clear what action the Government intends to take.

For more than 18 years, Ryan Cornelius has been held in a Dubai prison, denied justice and separated from his family. His business partner, Charles Ridley, has also been imprisoned, and it is utterly unacceptable that British citizens should face what amounts to a life sentence with trumped up charges following proceedings condemned by the United Nations.

The British Government has a duty to protect its citizens, and after 18 years it is abundantly clear that quiet diplomacy has achieved nothing. That is why 69 MPs and Peers have come together to demand action. The UAE has an opportunity to put this right by releasing Ryan on its National Day. If it refuses, there must be consequences, including targeted sanctions against those responsible for prolonging his detention. Britain cannot continue to look the other way. Ryan and Charles must be brought home. @10DowningStreet @FCDOGovUK

Father and Daughter Who Fled Russia Win Magnitsky Human Rights Award - The Moscow Times themoscowtimes.com/2026/11/0…
All true, but Trump lacks any significant leverage to force Ukraine (or Europe) to do anything against their will.
The bad thing about the GOP losing the midterms is that Trump will now focus entirely on foreign policy, the only sphere where he still wields significant power.
This means he will move even closer to Russia while funneling millions, if not billions, of dollars to his family and friends. Meanwhile, Ukraine will be denied any meaningful assistance.

We are delighted that @AliKarimli Karimli has received the Magnitsky Award for Outstanding Opposition Politician.
As leader of #Azerbaijan 's democratic opposition, he has spent decades campaigning for democracy, freedom of speech, and political reform.
This well-deserved recognition will help amplify Ali Karimli's extraordinary work while drawing much-needed attention to his politically motivated prosecution and escalating repression in Azerbaijan.
Ali Karimli helped establish the Popular Front movement in 1989, which challenged communist rule, and later served as Azerbaijan’s Secretary of State in 1993. He was elected to parliament in 1995 and 2000 and became chairman of the Azerbaijan Popular Front Party in 2001.
Since then, he has continued to campaign for democratic elections, human rights, and government accountability.
