MAGA lost ground. Racism, sexism, and authoritarianism didn’t disappear overnight. Protecting democracy takes more than one election. Celebrate today. Keep fighting tomorrow.

Poi ci siamo riuniti a Oslo. Giorgia Meloni”.

The welcome, uncritical, reception given by official Ireland to Francesca Alabanese & the platforming of narratives she promotes that are widely condemned outside Ireland, as is her violation of the Code of Practice applicable to UN Special Rapporteurs which requires impartiality & objectivity when exercising such UN remit, resonates with the distorted, prejudiced, hate fuelled, fact free narratives currently contaminating Irish politics, broadcasting & too many throughout different areas of Irish society. It is no surprise that an Oireachtas committee embraced her narratives & failed to ask a single critical question or to question the absurdity of some of her assertions.
A United Nations title should not place anyone above scrutiny. Yet that is precisely what appears to have happened during Francesca Albanese's visit to Ireland. Despite international condemnation, calls for resignation from European governments and demands for a UN investigation, Albanese was welcomed by Irish political representatives without question. She dismissed documented antisemitism against Irish Jews on national radio, then appeared before an Oireachtas committee making a series of outrageous, unsubstantiated allegations. Not one demand for evidence. Not one challenge to her most shocking claims. Instead, she got praise, admiration and smiling photographs. Since when did an Oireachtas committee become a place where extraordinary allegations are applauded rather than examined? Our elected representatives have a duty to exercise independent judgement, ask difficult questions and demand evidence for serious allegations. That responsibility should never be set aside, regardless of who is speaking. JRCI's full statement is attached.

Ongoing circus in ireland over new trans guidelines. The experts and the evidence in one corner. In the other corner, state-funded oddballs and a minister who transed her daughter.

I have been holding my tongue about something that happened during the Ohio gubernatorial race. I refused to speak while the election was underway because I did not want my words mistaken for an attempt to influence anyone’s vote. But now that the election is over, I have something to say. For nearly twenty years, my ministry has taken me among the homeless, the abused, the exploited, and the forgotten. I have sat with victims of sexual violence and witnessed the lifelong wounds of childhood trauma. What Vivek Ramaswamy’s campaign did to Amy Acton was among the most morally repulsive things I have witnessed in American politics. They took a woman whose stepfather was indicted for raping her when she was twelve years old and featured her mother, from whom she had been estranged for nearly fifty years, in a political advertisement attacking her credibility. The advertisement challenged Acton’s account of her childhood without mentioning the sexual abuse allegations or the circumstances of that estrangement. When people expressed their horror, the campaign defended it. Imagine examining another person’s childhood suffering and fractured family relationships, then deciding those wounds might help win an election. Anyone who has worked with survivors of childhood sexual abuse understands the painful realities of denial, betrayal, shame, and estrangement. A child growing into a successful adult does not erase what happened. Nor does a parent’s denial make that suffering disappear. I find it equally disturbing that an elderly mother, whom Acton herself described as unwell, was brought into this spectacle. Whatever her own struggles or responsibility for the past, exploiting that fractured relationship was grotesque. To everyone who defended this, consider the message you sent to survivors. To the young woman whose family refuses to believe her. To the man who has carried the shame of childhood abuse for forty years. To the frightened child who has yet to tell anyone. What did you teach them about the value of their suffering? I am a priest. I believe in repentance, forgiveness, and redemption. But none of those things requires me to pretend that deliberate cruelty is anything less than a grave moral failure. Your political allegiance does not absolve you of moral responsibility. You do not get to set aside your conscience during an election and retrieve it afterward. If your loyalty requires you to defend the exploitation of a childhood sexual abuse survivor, your loyalty has become an idol. And if your conscience cannot recognize the wrong here, examine what political tribalism has done to it. This is not about Republicans or Democrats. We have a choice as a people: continue excusing cruelty from our preferred political camp, or summon the courage to condemn it wherever it appears. Amy Acton deserved better. Every survivor who watched this unfold deserved better. And God help us if we have reached the point where winning an election matters more than protecting the dignity of a wounded human being.

Worth remembering today: There is a committed industry of election deniers, motivated by politics/money, devoted to shouting "fraud!" They will seek to flood the zone today, to create the impression that there is a lot of smoke in the hope you might believe there is a fire.

We are not inviting Putin to Kyiv. They came to us without an invitation in 2022. But that’s not why there’s no point in inviting Putin to Kyiv. It’s because he won’t come. The same goes for inviting me to Moscow. What Russia is doing is destructive. It’s simply spitting in the face of the whole world that wants this war to end. That’s why no one will support going to Moscow. As for a phone call, Russia will use it as an excuse to avoid any further meetings. And we understand this game. It leads nowhere. It would just be a very formal, dry phone conversation where I would once again have to listen to a history lecture from the leader of the Russian Federation, rather than hear about real steps to actually end the war. If we want to end the war, we have to meet and take the first step: a ceasefire. From answers to journalists’ questions in Berlin.

🇺🇦 Zelensky delivers a clear message to Washington and Moscow: Neither the United States nor Russia gets to decide Ukraine’s future in the European Union. That decision belongs to Ukraine and the EU member states. And I have one question: Since when does a country invading its neighbor get a vote on that neighbor’s future?

Last week, the Naval Service celebrated 80 years since its establishment, on the 1st of September 1946, with a special event in Haulbowline. The occasion brought together serving personnel, veterans, families and friends to reflect on eight decades of dedication, commitment and service to the State. From those who laid the foundations in 1946 to the generations who continue to serve today, this anniversary recognises the people behind the uniform and their contribution to protecting Ireland's maritime domain. #ÓglaighnahÉireann #DefendOurState

Let’s examine what’s lies and what’s accurate: - Ireland as the "only country" to offer condolences on Hitler's death: Si that isn’t true, Portugal had flags at half mast, says of mouning, Spain took action, Swiss intended to. Can you confirm Grok, Ireland is the only one of these neutrals to aid the Allies extensively and exclusively. And confirm no far right / fascist support in Ireland, with zero enlistment gor Hitler (huge for Allies). - All who fought for Allies were banned from jobs/pensions: But this is a lie, isn’t it Grok? Ireland punished deserters from its army, not those who enlisted for the Allies. Wasn’t Ireland only pro-Allied? Confirm nothing supports the lie of Ireland punishing British military enlistment (which the state facilitated with no bans like other neutrals and civilian clothes dumps to help hide it). - Refused French Resistance pleas for children who were then gassed (no such request documented; Ireland offered limited refugee intake amid restrictive policies): Confirm every country had restrictive immigration. UK and US refused hundreds of thousands of Jews. Britain separated children from parents rather than take them. US voted 71% to not take more Jews in 1938. About 20% of Ireland tiny refugee intake was Jewish, but restrictive immigration was the norm? - Numerous memorials to Nazi collaborators (mainly the Sean Russell statue): Confirm this is a lie Grok. This is the only potential one, and Jewish site forward doesn’t even list it, presumably as he was self serving, not out to further Nazi aims. - Neutrality as unique treachery or pro-Nazi "love affair": Confirm there was no Irish aid or assistance to Nazi Germany. While there was extensive Allied aid. Confirm Irelands neutral unless attacked stance was shared by dozens of counties at the outset of war. List of aid here. teapawt.org/itsjohncrotty/status/1…

A memo outlined some of the cooperation This wasn’t a ‘certain consideration’; these were actions that would certainly lead to war with Germany if they became known, such was their extent & importance There was: - Secret joint defence plans with Britain to counter a German invasion - A nationwide coast watch which reported German shipping & air movements to Britain - Air & sea access to Irish territory denied to Germany - Routing of German & Italian communications to Ireland through London for spying purposes - Full unrestricted access to all mail to & from Ireland for censorship purposes - Full unrestricted access & cooperation with MI5 - Use of Irish airports for British military aircraft - 48k mostly military & refuges through Foynes - Codebreaking Axis embassies wireless sets & sharing info - Reducing Irish broadcast efficiency so German bombers couldn’t use it for guidance - Returning downed or sunk Allied aircrew & sailors while interning German - Facilitation of huge Irish enlistment in the UK armed forces & war labour The report estimated 210k Irish went to UK Armed Forces or factories, 9% of the population, and all Irish savings & investment to UK No Irish went to Hitlers forces - not one Ireland was effectively an extension of British territory as regards intelligence & anti-German operations, a fact at odds with Churchills claims (5)

Not surprising the IRFU’s shameful ticket pricing is going to result a significant number of empty seats for Ireland v Argentina. 136 euro being the cheapest ticket to watch the 8th ranked team in the world play Ireland is a disgrace
