We will explore some of the reasons why this may be, using a case study from my post-doc of Early Warning Scores for detecting deteriorating patients in hospitals. In particular, I’ll discuss challenges in developing, evaluating, and commercialising an electronic system that sought to address this. I’ll then reflect on how this project has shaped my career and led to my current work. To conclude, I’ll share some recent research on extracting objective measures of neurological diseases through smartphone videos.
