La semana pasada participé en la reunión anual del proyecto "SENTINEL Wild Birds" (@EFSA_EU) que se celebró en @ebdonana.
Este proyecto tiene como objetivo conocer mejor la epidemiología de los virus de #GripeAviar de alta patogenicidad en aves silvestres en Europa (sigue)
Mañana, BirdPath se pone exótico. Henrique Pacheco defenderá su tesis doctoral sobre helmintos y hemoparásitos en hubaras africanas y asiáticas.

Estamos de celebración 🥳. El 17 de octubre Alberto Sánchez-Cano @palotube defendió su tesis "Eco-epidemiología en la interfaz aves silvestres-domésticas" en @IREC_CSIC_UCLM, tema clave para entender y prevenir brotes como el #H5N1 #Gripeaviar en granjas avícolas. Enhorabuena!
Los últimos brotes de #Gripeaviar #H5N1 en Europa no siempre llegan por patos migradores. Muchas granjas están lejos de humedales. La evidencia apunta a rutas menos obvias: gorriones, estorninos, roedores, vehículos.. El riesgo no solo viene de fuera: está dentro del perímetro.

🌎 Our resulta suggest that urbanization may affect the health and physiology of house sparrows, potentially altering host-pathogen interactions and having implications for disease transmission.
