I got chatting to a friend of a friend at the pub last weekend.
He’d just turned 30. Good job, no debt (excluding student loan), saves every month and the kind of person you’d expect to have it figured out.
He told me what he thought his 30s would look like when he was 22. The house, maybe a kid and a bit of money behind him.
Then he told me what it actually looks like... Renting a room in Clapham and saving for a deposit that gets further away every year he saves for it.
He hasn’t done anything wrong, that’s what he was told to do!
I wrote about this a couple months ago, so could give him the spiel🤣
But it's just wild when you think about it... in 1997 the average home cost 3.5 times the average salary. Today it’s 7.6!
My one bit of advice to him was to learn the rules of the game you’re actually playing. Money loses value over time. Once that clicks, everything else gets a lot more obvious.

The Autumn Budget is just around the corner... Will it be a step forward for UK innovation, or another step back?
In the US, @Tesla is revealing cars that drive upside down. Here, @Peterlane1985 says UK regulation is a million miles behind.

Nine months ago we launched a Bitcoin business into the heart of a bear market 😰
Not the easiest timing. Like every downturn, the last year has sorted the people with real conviction from those who were not quite there yet.
But membership of the Bitcoin Business Network has continued to climb.
These are people who look past the chart. They understand what Bitcoin actually is, they want to build with it and be part of what comes next.
Now the mood is shifting. As the price picks up once more, mainstream circles are opening up to the conversation again.
Of course, we are excited by the price action like everyone else.
But what we really care about is growing this community. Bringing together more people who believe Bitcoin lays the foundations for stronger businesses.
Together, we can use this platform to drive positive economic change across the UK and help make it a place where innovation thrives again.
The hardest part is behind us. Now the fun begins 👇

Great to catch up @JayW132 and lots covered between @Bitcoin @tallymoney #gold and the problems of #fiatcurrency
The UK sold 395 tonnes of gold between 1999 and 2002.
The sales were announced to the market in advance, so everyone knew the flood was coming.
Raised $3.5 billion at the time. It's worth over $50 billion today.

The US is moving because senators are taking the time to learn how Bitcoin actually works.
The UK can close that gap, and it starts with education. Thanks for the platform here @BitcoinColl 🇬🇧
Proud to be doing this work with @bitcoinpolicy on both sides of the Atlantic.

How do you respond to people who raise environmental concerns about Bitcoin?
I sat down with @JayW132 of @BitcoinColl recently at @PumphreysCoffee. We covered that question properly, along with plenty of other business and Bitcoin topics.

There's a quarter of a billion pounds sitting on Oyster cards nobody has used in a year.
£3.08 average per card. Not worth the trip to claim it.
Call it Oyster dust.
