You can’t achieve equity without devolving power and resources. “Pro-equity” approaches within mainstream system can only, at best, reduce inequity and bias. In 2022, may the mainstream system spend more energy scrutinising their own performance than they do “others”. Trust!

As a woman, I find this photograph of world leaders attending #cop27egypt *deeply* unsettling in 2022. #COP27

👊👊👊 quote from @DrNgaree- 'we don't want to be on your [diversity] committee. We want to be where the DECISIONS are being made'. The burden of additional cultural labour isn't recognised. Diversity means respecting people time enough to give maximal impact to their time. 2/5

The Greens are also calling on Labor to fully implement the recommendations from the Royal Commission into Aboriginal Deaths in Custody, the Bringing Them Home report and raising the age of legal responsibility to 14. This is long overdue and as urgent as ever.

It's almost like the socioeconomic determinants of health matter in the prevention of chronic inflammatory diseases 🤔
Researchers who study Type 2 diabetes have reached a stark conclusion: There is no device or drug powerful enough to counter the effects of poverty, pollution, stress, a broken food system, cities that aren't walkable, and inequitable access to healthcare. nyti.ms/3SRkKZS

Increase inequalities, then do nothing about them and refuse to take ‘action’ to reduce demand on your struggling health service. Quite a strategy.
EXCL: Thérèse Coffey is ditching the government’s long-promised white paper on health inequalities despite the 19-year gap in life expectancy between rich and poor - another top scoop from @denis_campbell theguardian.com/politics/202…

If we as a society truly cared about children, we would help their parents in every way. From a livable wage to affordable housing to childcare, investing in our future is more than saying "children are the future". The conditions we are born, grow, live, work and age matter.

There are numerous ways in which the Covid 19 response failed Māori. In this post I use Ministry of Health figures for Covid 19 deaths to explain why inequities for Māori are obscured in the publicly available data. link.medium.com/XOuTB30prtb
