A report on Franklin Templeton’s tokenized mutual fund highlighted a pilot in which 50,000 transactions cost approximately $1.13 on blockchain infrastructure, compared with $75,000 through traditional processing. These figures relate to that specific pilot, not a universal cost guarantee.
Why it matters: Tokenization may reduce reconciliation and transaction-processing costs while enabling more continuous digital operations.

The CBK and National Treasury have published the Draft National Payment System Policy and Bill 2026, proposing a modernised payments framework focused on interoperability, innovation, inclusion and integration with regional and global payment systems.
