This is amazing
Some NPR podcasts started getting mysterious comments on Spotify. They made no sense to the staff reading them – until someone from a younger generation cracked the code.

I knew someone had to do it! The classic, remastered.
Now what we really need is an Omarchy-themed version of the same classic game.
Maybe you have to tackle running out of tokens and trading parts of your wagon? Maybe the wagon isn't even a wagon. 🤣
I built an Oregon Trail-inspired game inside the Omarchy desktop.
Not a mockup. A real Omarchy Quattro plugin that opens from the bar and runs inside Quickshell.
omaTrail includes:
- Five-person party and wagon management
- Pace, rations, weather, repairs, and river crossings
- Stateful dysentery affected by medicine, rest, pace, and food
- Real-time graphical hunting with moving wildlife
- Original omaTrail and Classic 1978-inspired rules
- Green Monitor and Color Deluxe graphics
- Keyboard and mouse controls
It runs fully offline. No account, telemetry, daemon, network access, or elevated privileges.
omaTrail is open source and now listed in the Omarchy marketplace: omarchyplugins.com/plugin.ht…
If you run Omarchy and remember the old trail games, try a journey and tell me who made it west.

That is the part I keep turning over. I used to call all of this curiosity, and lined up it looks like curiosity, booking to teaching to building, a man who keeps walking through the next open door. But a door is also a way out of a room. I do not really know, looking back, how much of this has been me chasing the next interesting thing and how much has been me leaving the last one before I had to find out I had gone stale in it.
