Parce qu'en Europe, les Chinois qui viennent faire leur master, doctorat ou postdoc ont beau être "brillants" sur le papier (bonnes notes, capacités de travail hors norme, beaucoup de publications...), ils n'ont aucune autonomie, peu de créativité, une personnalité inexistante et des capacités de communication très en-dessous de la moyenne.

The difference is the American university system, which rammed up the difficulty curve quickly in math and science especially for the Ivies.

In 2018, BSJZ had an average mafs PISA score of 591. 16.5% of students scored a level 6, the highest level.
In 2025, BSJZ had an average mafs PISA score of 612. 30% of students scored a level 6, the highest level.
In 2018, 1.5% of US students scored a level 6… in 2025, the US got a U (unreliable)… estimated to be ~1%.
Extrapolating to the rest of China in 2018 results in 45x the number of high mafs ability students in China versus the US. The same exercise in 2025 results in 115x the number of high mafs ability student.
Of course that’s erroneous. BSJZ are the wealthiest cities/provinces in China with deep scholarly histories.
But still… 16.5% level 6 in 2018 to 30% in 2025? That’s perfectly understandable given the general surge in China’s education levels over the past 2+ decades with about twice as many 15 year olds growing up with college educated parents in 2025 vs 2018.
So… 115x the number highly proficient mafs students in China vs the US… take whatever haircut y’all’s deem reasonable… with Azns being 60% of US highly proficient mafs students.

Cheesecake Factory populism is so weird to me because the rise of chain restaurants created over-the-top, replicable dining experiences, which eventually put the final squeeze on mom-and-pop restaurants, such as the US version of trattorias. I would argue those family-owned neighborhood businesses made the dining experience feel more special and pulled communities together. The shift to chain restaurants homogenized American life and concentrated corporate power. Strange to frame corporate consolidation as "populism."
On any medium to long term timeframe, China has increased household consumption more any other economy. All 218 of them…
And not by a little… by a country mile! Twice as fast as second place Asian Tigers.

It's kinda weird that a marxist country doesn't understand that raising aggregate demand is a core aspect of industrial development. Under the marxist lens democracies succeed because the interests of consumers are represented, accelerating aggregate demand. From abolition, civil rights act, consumerism, wokeism, welfare, etc. half of American history has been innovating on ways to increase aggregate demand.
The hukou system, lack of strong safety net, weak capital markets, cracking down on consumerist media, etc. don't help. I can see why someone would want to avoid overproduction and consumerism but stronger social nets would probably net decrease unemployment here.
The treatlerite is simultaneously America's greatest weakness and strength.
