Andy Burnham says, in a new Guardian opinion piece, that he is “open to” the “calls for a formal apology on behalf of the British state” for the transatlantic slave trade which began almost HALF A MILLENNIUM ago.
This would be like someone in the year 2526 having to apologise for heinous acts conducted today. It is ridiculous.
It goes without saying that the transatlantic slave trade was an awful part of global history. But it is also a part of history for which we have already atoned, multiple times over, as one of the world’s pioneers in abolishing the slave trade and indeed policing, through our West Africa Squadron and others – an endeavour that cost up to 2% of Britain’s GDP every year for decades to come.
Now think about all the aid money we have supplied across the world since. Billions upon billions. And lest we forget the lives Britain has put on the line over the centuries since: our own people, who sacrificed everything, to keep the free world free.
This is a time of year we remember those sacrifices instead of grovelling to anyone who demands it over something of which no Briton alive played any part.
Yet Burnham is still “open” to making humiliating public pronouncements on Britain’s behalf. I say no. I say enough.
One of the biggest problems we face today is that we are no longer a forward-looking nation. We only ever seem to lament our past, or condemn those who came before us. I cannot abide it any longer. Britain is exceptional. We are a moral force in the world. We have given so much, and sacrificed for centuries.
It is now time to put the Britsh people first, instead of caving to every demand that we get on our knees.

A Plaid Cymru Senedd member has offered constituents an insight into her work by producing a video documenting her day.
The politician (pictured) undertook three engagements, comprising a visit to a mosque, an Afro-Welsh celebration and an LGBTQI+ prize event.
Neither the NHS, schools nor transport featured, despite being key Senedd responsibilities.

It’s being reported that over 500 undocumented men have crossed the channel so far today with nearly 700 crossing yesterday. The UK is literally being invaded and no one is doing anything about it.

A 1960s childhood.
A bath and hair wash once a week.
Bedtime after the Magic Roundabout at 6pm.
Watch with Mother for an hour or so after school on a black and white TV where you frequently needed to reset the horizontal hold buttons and replace the valves.
Eating whatever meal was put in front of you. Because you didn't get a choice.
No snacks between meals.
Sixpence a week pocket money for sweets or a comic.
Always playing outside on bikes, hand made go karts and pushing our dolls in toy prams.
Being happy if you got bath salts or talc as a birthday present. Or a hanky with your initials embroidered on it.
Being taught to tell the time, your times tables, tie your tie and shoelaces before you started school.
Getting a small smack on the bottom for answering back.
Getting the cane or slipper at school.
Mums still did the housework and dads cut the grass or washed the car.
Mum went shopping most days because you didn't have a freezer.
And if you had a twin tub washing machine, you were well off.
Ready Steady Go or Top of the Pops to see your favourite groups and singers.
And how exciting when space hoppers came to the UK in 1969.
Occasionally on a Friday, you'd get fish and chips for tea and put your empty bottle of Corona out for the man to come and give you your deposit back.
Saturday afternoon at Nan's watching the wrestling or Sunday tea with winkles you'd need pins to extract the contents from.
The coal man and rag and bone man were regularly visiting your street.
And the late Sunday afternoon dread as you had school again tomorrow.
Were we happy? Of course we were. We knew no different. Were we anxious? Of course not. We probably didn't even know the word. We just played make believe and did as we were told. Children need boundaries and routine. Both sadly lacking now.

It's now gone 11am, and I've yet to see a single national media outlet mention Alastair Campbell telling Zia Yusuf:
“You've got more chance captaining the Sri Lankan cricket team than you have of becoming Home Secretary.”
Yet last week, Raheem Kassam was dragged through the national media for calling Kemi Badenoch a “Nigerian scammer”.
Where's the same outrage for Alastair Campbell?
Where are the headlines, the condemnation and the demands for an apology?
The double standards are becoming impossible to ignore, and the credibility of British journalism is suffering because of them.
Raheem Kassam was dragged through the national media last week for calling Kemi Badenoch a “Nigerian scammer”.
Now Alastair Campbell has told Zia Yusuf, “You’ve got more chance captaining the Sri Lankan cricket team than you have of becoming Home Secretary.”
Will Alastair Campbell face the same media outrage and scrutiny?
Or do the standards change depending on someone's political allegiance?
This will be a very telling moment for British journalism.

I’m beginning to think the loony left have infiltrated Restore because no true patriot would deliberately block another right wing party from wining any election by splitting the vote out of spite especially when they know RESTORE had no chance of winning.
The most important thing we can do for our families is to preserve our democracy by defeating LABOUR not aid them. 🇬🇧✝️🇬🇧✝️

Strong Reform wins overnight!
In Worksop East (Bassetlaw), we went from nothing to 46%, with Labour sinking from 74% to 37%.
We also smashed the Lib Dems in a ward in Halton, Cheshire, which they won in May this year.
The Westminster bubble is as out of touch as ever.
Sadly, we did lose one ward in Dudley. We won 872 votes, Labour won 874 - and Restore took 159.
The next election will be existential for Britain. I’ll deport everyone who is here illegally. Vote Restore, get Labour.

I enjoyed this segment on “TALK TRUSS”.
Laura Jane from Hampshire put a question to Liz about Kemi, the loss of public trust, the liberal wing of the party remains, and above all the institutional barriers of the blob that still need to be confronted and broken down.
And how Reform UK are the only party we can trust to do this and the only party talking about doing it.
