Pedestrians: Please use the crosswalk, and hit the flashing lights to let drivers know you’re about to cross. Drivers: Please don’t speed through pedestrian crossings - and always stop when pedestrians are in the crosswalk. Operation S.T.E.P.S. (Stopping Traffic Ensures Pedestrian Safety), an initiative focused on enhancing pedestrian safety through targeted traffic enforcement, took place over the course of almost four hours, to reinforce those points. In that time frame, officers conducted 40 traffic stops and issued 49 citations/warnings.   Please keep those things in mind as a driver - and as a pedestrian - to help keep each other safe on the roadway.

Join us in welcoming back these Boca Raton Police Officers from Santa Rosa County! The officers were deployed to the City of Milton, Florida, alongside officers from several neighboring agencies from Palm Beach County, all assisting in recovery efforts following Hurricane Isaias. Over the last few days, these six BRPD officers assisted the Milton Police Department in traffic control efforts, handled calls for service and even helped locate a missing child. We're very proud of these officers for going above and beyond their community, stepping up to help support another community when they needed it most!

Why is Boca Raton evaluating options for a new Police Headquarters? 🚔 Our current headquarters was built nearly 40 years ago, when Boca Raton was a much smaller community, and the Police Department was less than half its current size. Today, the Department faces different operational needs, with personnel, specialized units, and equipment spread across multiple City facilities. The existing headquarters also presents challenges related to building conditions and hurricane preparedness. Hear from Assistant Chief Fred Laurie as he shares some of the challenges facing our current headquarters and why the City is planning for the future. Learn more here - myboca.us/2979/Police-Servic…

DON'T ROLL THROUGH THE RED🛑 COMPLETELY STOP INSTEAD ✅ When you pull up to a red light, you have to fully come to a stop before the crosswalk - especially if you intend to turn right at that light. 🚥 Our CRA (Community Redevelopment Agency) officers, led by Sgt. Horne, recently reminded drivers that rolling stops do not count. 🚫 Pedestrians could be in or entering the crosswalk in front of you, and oncoming traffic doesn't expect you to ignore the red light - which can lead to an accident. 🚸
