Today my wife and I try our fourth and final attempt at artificial insemination. This journey has been so long and full of challenges. We are so grateful to the medical professionals and doctors who have given all their support and expertise to assist us in our goal of having children.
My heart goes out to all who struggle with infertility and all that comes with it. We empathize with your heartache and longing, the highs and the lows, the uncertainty.
In all of this, my wife and I continue to have faith in Godโs plan for us. We are greatly blessed to have other members in our congregation who have gone through similar experiences and feel immense love from all of our ward family.
I cannot express how much gratitude I have for our bishop and stake president who have been so kind, loving, and supportive. Truly incredible, humble men showing charity and compassion in all aspects of life.
We plan to do IVF if this procedure is unsuccessful. Some of our friends have adorable children conceived through IVF. Through this whole journey, we have received so much love and support from so many people, it humbles me that people care so deeply about us. Thank you all for your love.
Itโs always fascinated me how two people can read the same thing, experience the same thing, etc but come to completely different conclusions and understanding.
Even when Christ preached, there were those who received Him and those who rejected Him.
โThe Jews then murmured at him, because he said, I am the bread which came down from heaven.โ (John 6:41)
โAnd Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.โ
(Matthew 16:16)
I have often wondered about the lost manuscript, blacks and the priesthood, and many other matters that I do not have all the answers to. And yet I know enough. Because my faith in God is enough.
Martin Harris in particular has been an eye-opener for me, as I see someone so relatable as I have learned of his weaknesses and struggles. Yet he overcame it all and never denied his testimony of the Book of Mormon.
People scoff at giving 10% to a โwealthy churchโ and yet I look at the sacrifice of Martin Harris and itโs estimated that he gave over 40% of his net worth to the Church as it paid for printing costs and other expenses. John Tanner gave almost his entire fortune (worth ~$1.5-2 million in todayโs value) in the early days of the Church and was left nearly destitute, yet never asked for his loans to be repaid to him.
I could certainly find reasons to leave the Church, but because of answers to prayer, undeniable experiences, and my desire to find truth, I would never leave. Where else would I go?
Last LDS post
I'm not Mormon because the problems kept stacking up until I couldn't explain them away anymore.
When the 116 pages were lost, Joseph didn't simply translate them again. Instead he received a revelation telling him to substitute a different record, which looks a lot like a man who couldn't reproduce his own text.
The Book of Mormon itself reads like a product of the 1820s rather than an ancient record. It takes sides in the religious arguments of Joseph's own day, condemning infant baptism, attacking the Universalists who preached that everyone would be saved, and warning against secret combinations just as the country was in an uproar over Freemasonry.
It also settles questions about the Trinity, free will, and baptismal authority that ancient Americans had no reason to be asking.
Its sermons sound like a frontier revival, and it quotes the King James Bible, translation quirks and all, in passages supposedly written long before that translation existed.
Joseph also went back into the Book of Mormon and changed "the mother of God" to "the mother of the Son of God," which tells me the theology was shifting and the scripture was being edited to keep up with it.
The First Vision changed with each telling too, from the Lord alone in the earliest account to the Father and the Son in the version the church teaches now.
The Book of Abraham is even harder to defend. When the papyri resurfaced, Egyptologists identified them as ordinary Egyptian funeral texts that have nothing to do with Abraham, so whatever Joseph was doing, it wasn't translating.
He publicly denied practicing polygamy while secretly taking plural wives, and that denial worked well enough that some Mormons today still believe he was a monogamist.
The church today is no better. I see no evidence of real priesthood power, and no evidence that the church is led by a prophet rather than run like a corporation by a board of MBAs.
When President Nelson and the First Presidency urged members to get the Covid vaccine, my wife was one of the people who suffered an injury from it, and I can't believe a true prophet of God would have led his people into that.
The church asks members to pay tithing while it sits on billions of dollars.
It bends with the cultural wind instead of standing on revelation, and it stays out of the culture war because it wants so badly to be mainstream, even to the point of supporting the federal Respect for Marriage Act in 2022.
Even in my local ward, the kindness often felt more like a performance than real love. I might have set aside any one of these by itself, but taken together, the light bulb finally went off.
And to all you assholes on both sides (anti and LDS) who thought I wasnโt being genuine, I was.
This was a real spiritual journey.
Take care
My wife is in a lot of pain after todayโs procedure. Please pray for her. It makes me feel so helpless to see her like this. All that sheโs endured through this infertility struggle humbles me more than you could ever know.
Our head coach is amazing
People who try to lower the significance of marriage are part of the reason why many marriages are failingโฆ
Take any scripture out of context and you can bend it to whatever interpretation you wish.
I hope that I never post anything on social media that would speak badly of my wife or shame her for likes and comments.
Every time I see people post videos or stories that embarrass or invite public ridicule/criticism of a family member, I think of how airing dirty laundry would affect my family.
I know I have plenty of my own weaknesses and faults to not worry about blasting my familyโs mistakes and faults online for the world to see.
While I do post about the struggles my wife and I have had with infertility, itโs something weโve discussed together and sheโs okay with others knowing what weโre going through. We have found strength, compassion, and comfort from others giving their support and prayers in this trial. Thatโs different from posting about someoneโs mistakes or holding a grudge.
Iโll be honest, bye week is such a nice time to watch football. All those top ten teams stressing out meanwhile I get to watch it all unfold without worrying about my team haha.
Big 12 are the biggest beneficiaries of the weekend. Currently the conference with the most remaining undefeated teams.
My predictions:
-BYU to be ranked #2 after Ohio State
-Miami stays at #3 only because they benefit from other teams losing around them
-Texas Tech will probably be #5
-Utah probably ranked #6
-UCLA #7
-Georgia #8
-Indiana #9
-Tennessee #10
SEC cannibalism will make their conference lose big in the rankings, with the sole biggest beneficiary being Ole Miss jumping to potentially #4.
Texas will plummet after their second loss, Alabama will also be out of the top 10.
I congratulate BYU on a hard fought win.
As an objective observer who had no dog in the fight, Iโll say youโre lucky there was no pass interference called on that final play.
The only people I see complaining about this are fans of teams in the P4 conferences.
Thatโs what greed gets you: whining and complaining. Your conferences got so greedy they got bloated with too many teams.
As conferences became consolidated, it naturally means more teams from each conference go to an expanded playoff, making the regular season โmatter less.โ
People think the playoff expansion is the problem. No, the problem began when conferences began to disappear.
The rest of us G6 fans are excited because every game is still important because money hasnโt taken away what makes our seasons special.
Worst Halloween candy list:
(Disclaimer: This does not mean I hate all of these, but would rather get far more superior candy put in my basket instead)
1. Smarties
2. Tootsie Rolls
3. Circus peanuts
4. Wax coke bottles
5. Pretzels or some other non-candy alternative that sucks
A member of the church trying to justify her defiance of the Lordโs position on abortion. The more I see support for Prop 1, the more disgusted I get.
Words cannot describe how livid I am because of abominable organizations like this.
My wife and I have struggled with infertility for over 11 years. This organization is paying for numerous ads to encourage people to support killing babies under the guise of โreproductive rightsโ and โreproductive health.โ
No justification for evil will ever make it good.
VOTE NO ON PROP 1
And tell organizations like this one (interestingly enough they are choosing to post mainly on facebook rather than here) that they are evil.
Why does it seem like entertainment companies want to destroy every profitable intellectual property they own?
I find it fascinating how color is used in films to help tell stories.
Kung Fu Panda is an excellent example of this. Each villain has their own specific color that is used whenever theyโre on screen.
-In the first film, Tai Lung is shown consistently with themes of blue.
-In the second, Lord Shen is shown consistently with themes of red.
-In the third, Kai is shown consistently with themes of green.
Poโs colors are yellow/gold.
Each color is used to symbolize emotion, character qualities, and elements of Chinese culture.
People wonder why less children are being born. People who make comments like this arenโt helping to encourage having childrenโฆ
Value the children and grandchildren youโre blessed with. Stop treating them as a burden. And if they want the grandkids to spend time with you, cherish that time. The selfishness emanating from this comment is beyond words.
My grandfather died at age 54 and I never got to meet him. Assuming Richard has been blessed to live to see grandchildren born, he should be grateful he has the opportunity to spend time with them.

Okay "renter," Grandma isn't your employee.
1. Hire a babysitter.
2. You asked. She said yes. It was a request, not an obligation.
3. Chasing kids around exhausted two parents in our 20s. Acting like a healthy 64 year old can't have less stamina than you is a remarkable combination of entitlement and cluelessness about aging.
4. She wants to be Grandma, not your unpaid disciplinarian. Seems reasonable.
5. She already had plans. Why exactly should your conference automatically outrank her life and commitments?
6. She literally told you to have a backup plan. That's not "bailing"; that's giving you advance warning so you can act like an adult and plan accordingly.
And throwing "(boomer)" in front of "mom" doesn't strengthen your argument. It just makes the whole complaint sound petulant.
Your mother raised her children. She isn't obligated to raise yours, or rearrange her life whenever you need childcare.
