RIP. West Virginia Deputy Sheriff Caden Mullins, who gave his life in the line of duty, is the 77th officer lost in 2026. Deputy Sheriff Caden Mullins, 24, was killed when his cruiser was struck by a coal truck at the intersection of West Virginia Route 10 and Rum Creek Road at approximately 4:30 PM. Deputy Mullins had attended a Trunk or Treat event in Man with his fiancee, who was riding with him. He was taking her to her residence before planning to respond to a call for service elsewhere in the county when the crash occurred. Mullins previously served with the Charleston Police Department before joining the Logan County Sheriff's Department in August 2025.
