We Must Pace the Frontier: I’ve written a new essay on why the AI industry should slow down, with a three-part plan for doing so. Anthropic is unilaterally committing to the first of these steps. We’ll provide third-party evaluators with permanent, employee-level access to our systems, so that they can verify adherence to our safety measures, report on incidents, and assess models’ alignment during training. Closure is a myth. Grief doesn't evaporate—it waxes and wanes. The purpose of grief is not to cause pain. It's to keep memories of loved ones alive and remind us to make the most of our time. Moving forward after loss is not about erasing sorrow. It's about gaining perspective.

Massachusetts is permitting 2.5 units of housing per 1,000 residents. Some of the worst housing production numbers in the nation & half the national average. We have to recognize our housing production problems, both in the amount of housing we build and what we’re building.

A short biblical case for restraint on social media... "I have much more to say to you, but I don’t want to write it with pen and ink. For I hope to see you soon, and then we will talk face to face." 3 John 1:13-14

🧵Brad East taxonomized Christian writing into 4 tiers, 3 of which also may apply to churches and Christian conferences. 1: Universal (Beth Moore) 2: Popular (John Mark Comer) 3: High Brow (N.T. Wright) 4: Scholarly (Willie James Jennings) Let's look at each.

There are so many reasons pastors feel taxed and overwhelmed, and as a pastor turned pastor-to-pastors I and others are deeply involved in the formation and care of pastors. But the reasons for the clergy crisis run deeper. Pastors are formed within individualistic, consumeristic, competitive, and comparative cultures. And we’re still burdened by the inheritance of an Empire-mentality where the Cross was turned into the logo for a conquering clergy. Just listen for the militaristic language we use, even the names of ecclesial networks. Bigger, better, stronger, faster is exhausting. Many of us offer pastors care and practices for health. But small adaptations will only help so much. We need a revolution of pastoral imagination and practice. – at Grand Rapids, MI

There’s a long & dangerous history of dehumanization by subtly denying humanity of other humans through raising “medical” questions & contamination fears. This happened during AIDS. It happens w/ unhoused people as “dirty.” It’s why Jesus touches lepers. Pay attention, #Bospoli
City Councilor Erin Murphy has filed a hearing order to look into whether street cleaning equipment used in the area of Melnea Cass Boulevard and Massachusetts Avenue is spreading infectious diseases to other parts of Boston. trib.al/YZD7fSc
