Sharing a post 🙏🥹🐾🐕‍🦺 On September 11, 2001, dogs served in different ways across the World Trade Center disaster — searching rubble, detecting danger, and guiding people through smoke-filled stairwells to safety. Apollo, an NYPD German Shepherd, searched the ruins of Ground Zero alongside rescue crews. Bretagne, a young Golden Retriever with Texas Task Force 1, worked through dust, twisted steel, and devastation. Years later, she became widely remembered as the last known surviving 9/11 search-and-rescue dog. Jake, a black Labrador who had once been abandoned and badly injured, grew up to become a certified search-and-rescue dog. After 9/11, he spent days working through the wreckage at Ground Zero. Sirius, a Port Authority Police yellow Labrador trained to detect explosives, was inside the World Trade Center that morning. His handler, Officer David Lim, secured him before rushing to help others evacuate. Lim survived. Sirius did not. He became known as the only police dog killed in the 9/11 attacks. And then there were Roselle and Salty. They weren’t searching the rubble. They were guide dogs. Roselle helped her blind handler, Michael Hingson, escape from the 78th floor of the North Tower. Salty helped his blind handler, Omar Rivera, descend from the 71st floor. Through darkness, noise, fear, crowded stairwells, and chaos, they kept moving. Six dogs. Six very different stories. Search dogs. Police dogs. Guide dogs. None of them knew the meaning of terrorism. None understood why that morning had changed America forever. They simply did what they had been trained to do — and stayed beside the people who depended on them. More than two decades later, their names still deserve to be remembered. Apollo. Bretagne. Jake. Boulder Police detectives worked around the clock investigating leads and following up on tips to identify, find and arrest the man suspected of shooting and killing a University of Colorado Boulder student on Saturday. Thanks to good policework, the suspect has been identified as Omar Perez, 18, of Thornton. He was arrested early this morning and charged with murder in the first degree-extreme indifference, assault in the first degree-extreme indifference and attempted murder in the first degree-extreme indifference. He is not a C.U. student. His photo will not be released at this time because of the ongoing investigation. The second victim remains hospitalized. San Francisco's latest walking tour takes people past cats in windows, and apparently, the demand is enormous. Nearly 100 people gathered Saturday for a neighborhood “catwalk,” a free afternoon stroll past the homes of local cats, all volunteered by their owners for a moment in the spotlight. The cats, by all accounts booked and busy, had become local celebrities without lifting a paw. Organizer Lora Lafon told SFGATE the idea began with a Reddit thread inspired by a similar event in Minneapolis. More than 50 households across San Francisco signed up, and interest quickly outgrew what a single afternoon could accommodate. The inaugural walk was capped at 100 people, leaving another 406 on the waitlist and 388 more expressing interest. “We're such a big dog city (love dogs too) that it's been really sweet to see how proud the cat owners are when people stop to admire their babies in the window,” Lafon said. Fortunately for the city's aspiring cat admirers, more walks are in the works, both in San Francisco and potentially across the Bay Area.

I own an Airbnb cleaning business. This was the best possible outcome for me and the worst possible outcome for guests and hosts The fewer things a host can ask a guest to do, the more they will ask us to do and the more we will charge for a cleaning fee. That cleaning fee will continue to get pushed onto the guests which raises the cost of every booking. Or, the host will eat the increased cost we give them and their profitability will decrease Guests pay more, hosts pay more, cleaning companies make more Lose, lose, win

Some of you will be happy to hear this: @Airbnb just stated that short term rental hosts can no longer have in their house rules to strip the bed, wash dishes, start a load of laundry, take out the trash, or anything else related to cleaning and sanitation. It's created quite the uproar among hosts who are stating their cleaning fees will have to go up due to extra cleaning time required. The kicker is this: Airbnb takes 15.5% of the total cleaning fees and pockets the money. Is this a ploy for Airbnb to make more money?
