This morning alongside my co-counsel Nathan Werksman of @MersonLawPLLC my firm filed suit on behalf of @DB3LL seeking damages in excess of $300,000,000. David is a terrific person and what happened to him is simply unacceptable.

hollywoodreporter.com/movies… My @DukeFOOTBALL people know what a special guy he was. He had a tattoo of a tiger on his shoulder that was so emblematic; he was such a fierce and passionate guy. But also a genuinely kind soul who as far as I can tell was a friend to everyone he knew. RIP Charles Porter and my life is better for having known you

Team. Teammates. Themes resonating tonight for me. I lost a teammate to cancer who fought 15 years. But I am reminded of my gratitude for being part of @DukeFOOTBALL, having great teammates and trying to be one to others. Whether you’re red or blue, you’re a teammate as a citizen of the U.S. We would all do well to remember that. #rip Charles Porter.

No he did not and when the loudest voice in the room—i.e. #NFL—continues to lie or deflect it is hard for kids and parents to get real information. Notice he never mentions repetitive blows to the head.
“I knew the risks.” But did he? And, more importantly, do the 2 million kids playing tackle football today know what they’re truly signing up for? This week, we published new research estimating that 75% of NFL players who died over a 15-year period had chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE). Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel, who played 14 seasons in the NFL, was asked about the study during a press conference. His response? “I knew what the risks were.” We hear this argument often when it comes to professional athletes. And perhaps some players today do understand the risks. But many athletes made decisions about their careers before the long-term consequences of repetitive head impacts were widely understood. And there's an even bigger question we can't ignore: What about the kids? The 2 million children playing tackle football aren't necessarily equipped to understand the potential long-term consequences of repetitive head impacts. Yet they're making decisions about a sport that could have lifelong implications. We have laws in place to protect children from other activities that carry significant risks, like smoking, drinking, and driving, so why not have meaningful protections in youth sports, too? How about a minimum age to get CTE? Should any child be allowed (encouraged) to take hundreds of head impacts a year? Or flag football under 14 the only sensible way to play? I have asked what could’ve been many times in relationship to my athletic career. But I can honestly say I have never asked this question. Although I do feel like I’m a lock for 8.5

The flip side of this very important research on #cte is that no one’s lives have been made better by asbestos or tobacco whereas football is an amazing game. The key is truthful messaging (which we still don’t have enough of) and more studies.

A recently published BU-led study showed that 75% of NFL players who died between 2008 and 2023 had CTE neuropathology. We have broken down the key information of this study and what it means for CTE research. Learn more here: bit.ly/4zdveIe

We can finally stop talking about how #cte numbers look scary because #nfl families who donate brains already suspect a loved one had cte. These numbers are staggering and must be taken very seriously. nytimes.com/2026/10/28/scien…

It is impossible to understate how mentally tough being an #NFL football player is. Medically cleared just means a doc says you’re not doing further structural harm by playing. But the agony they have to block out to perform is insane. Guaranteed it hurts Ben Brown just to walk!
Today from Gillette Stadium: - Teammates say Alijah Vera-Tucker is encouraged because his injury isn't season ending. - Ben Brown told me his injury isn't as bad as originally thought. He's back at practice. More: masslive.com/patriots/2026/1…

To take this point a step further: by its express terms, the #CBA prohibits #NFL and #NFLPA from the practice of medicine, meaning that the sole vehicle for vindicating medical negligence is by filing a lawsuit. (We don’t know if that’s warranted here as yet.)
The NFLPA has yet to launch a "full investigation" of the Jalen Hurts situation. And Hurts has the power to launch the ultimate external investigation: Litigation. nbcsports.com/nfl/profootbal…

This is exactly why I said what I did the other day: we just don’t know (or at least can’t be certain re) the full story without more transparency. Still I have to imagine @JalenHurts makes a full recovery; certainly wishing that for him and his family.
A vascular surgeon reached out after hearing me talk about Hurts' situation on the podcast. Posting his comments here for what it's worth: “Small superficial clot, below the knee, I would let him play.  Put on a stocking, stay hydrated, walk around the plane every hour. But, too many unknowns.  Did this happen to him before?  Did it happen to a parent, a sibling?  If yes, changes things, I would be much more concerned. I always ask myself. . . should this patient have a clot?  Broken bone, in a cast. .  .yes, a clot can happen.  Young, healthy, active, uninjured- shouldn't have a clot. Now he has progressed to an embolus.  In my opinion, he should not have developed emboli from a cleat injury unless he has an underlying clotting disorder.  These can be tricky to diagnose if there is no family or personal history.  Like Chris Bosh, I'm concerned for his career.”

Big dub @Coach_Willey_FB !! I needed that news after watching Caleb carve up the Pats.

All fair from @AlbertBreer. What he did not say that I would add is there are simply things we just do not know: was it a superficial clot that moved; or a missed DVT? Why did he need to go to the hospital? Transparency good for everyone esp the docs/atcs
More on the @JalenHurts situation here ...

Remember the Tua situation? Remember the multi-week-long investigation based on facts the entire world watched at once??? And the #nfl figured this one out in 72 hours? I don’t know enough to point fingers at doctors but I know all I need to for me doubt the @nfl
Bottom line: The NFLPA is calling for a full investigation into the medical care provided to #Eagles QB Jalen Hurts. The union says it is unaware of any NFL investigation and that the league previously informed it there were no plans to review Hurts’ care…

Really??? Nonsense? Read the language of the rule!! Who gets to clear players? In fact who is the ONLY person who can do so?!
NFL chief medical officer Allen Sills describes concerns about potential team physician bias when it comes to clearing players to play as "nonsense." The mere existence of the UNC program for clearing players to return from concussions refutes that claim. nbcsports.com/nfl/profootbal…

I don’t know enough to have a strong opinion about the care in this specific case. What I do know is Jeff Miller has zero medical background and came from DC as a politico/lobbyist… now he’s the definitive voice on health and safety for @nfl
NFL EVP Jeff Miller notes there was “considerable and uninformed speculation yesterday in the reporting” on Jalen Hurts. Notes there was “unfounded criticism” of the #Eagles’ team physicians.

👏🏻👏🏻 @nflpa and @JCTretter to call for @nfl to walk the walk and confirm the club’s care was correct. With highly limited, potentially inaccurate public accounts of what transpired we just don’t know yet. Wishing @JalenHurts a safe and healthy return next year.
