Welcome to an exciting new series of “Where are they now?”
A series where we take a trip down memory lane to honor past Hope and Health player board members/ambassadors and catch up on where they are now!
Meet @BrettLevis, he first started as a player board member with Hope and Health back in 2017 when he played for the @WhitecapsFC first team. Brett was an outstanding champion - coming out to many community camps and being a strong advocate for Indigenous youth. His partner Carmen was also an amazing contributor as well.
After his time with the Vancouver Whitecaps, Brett played in the CPL and he now plays with @DetroitCityFC in the USL. He lives in Windsor, Ontario with his wife, Carmen, and gets to experience living in two cities at once.
One of his most memorable moments with Hope and Health was the annual Hope and Health Community Camps. He loved having the opportunity to chat and meet all the kids in different communities and feels extremely grateful to have had this experience with Hope and Health.
When asked to share a message of encouragement to the Hope and Health community, he said:
“Try to always find something positive in tough situations. Life gets hard and obstacles get thrown your way. It’s important to try your best to find positives and use those obstacles as stepping stones. They will build resiliency and character in the long term (especially in sport!)”
Brett and his wife, Carmen, are expecting their first child this summer and are extremely excited for this new journey. He hopes one day they will be able to attend a Hope and Health program!
Thank you, Brett, for everything you have done for the Hope and Health community inspiring the next generation of champions - and for continuing to support Indigenous youth closer to your home- such an amazing role model as a Canadian professional athlete. You played a pivotal role in the beginning years of our organization and we are so grateful to have you in our Hope and Health family for life.

"Sport is an outlet that helps," Brett Levis. We couldn't agree more that sport helps kids to deal with the everyday or the challenges of life.
KidSport helps to pay for sport registration fees for kids to get off the sidelines and into the game.
