This is an insane ad by Kansas Senator Roger Marshall, and when I first saw it, I thought it reeked of involvement by the candidate or the candidate’s spouse.
A classic case of a candidate feeling embattled and not feeling defended enough — it’s at this point that many candidates for office make the most reckless decisions.
And there’s no way professional Senate campaign staff or the NRSC would run such an ad.
And it turns out it’s much worse.
Per The New York Times, Marshall went around his campaign staff, hired his own film crew, then delivered the ad to his campaign and tried to get them to buy airtime for it. When they wouldn’t, he started passing the ad around to others, and that’s how it got posted on Twitter.
For those who aren’t aware, when Marshall was a practicing physician, he filed hundreds of lawsuits against patients. Some of those patients were arrested when they didn’t show up for court dates; others had their wages garnished.
Marshall frequently charged 18 percent interest on their bills.
Marshall’s billing practices were also first reported by the New York Times.

“This country belongs to all of us. Not just the wealthy or well-connected—everyone. That idea is under attack, and Michigan is where we fight back.” – Barack Obama endorsing Abdul El-Sayed for Senate

President @BarackObama showed me something in myself I might never have seen without him. I’m humbled to have his support in this fight. The Affordable Care Act will have laid the groundwork for guaranteed healthcare, and I'm honored to pick up his baton and finally pass Medicare for All.
Mallory McMorrow on Haley Stevens: It feels like it's more about her feelings than Michiganders. Politics is not easy. I was in this primary too. It was one of the most brutal, ugliest primaries I have certainly seen. But there is too much on the line right. It is a choice between MAGA and Michigan. And I'm on team Michigan

Any day of the week, Michiganders care more about the price of gas or groceries than the daily political drama or the last-minute moves by politicians for the TV cameras.
I was knocking doors in Sterling Heights yesterday and to a house, those folks were hyper-focused on how expensive everything in their life seems to be, and they’re desperately worried — often in tears — about the future for their kids.
And it is for that reason that I have avoided commenting on the actions of Congresswoman Haley Stevens until now.
But there is simply too much at stake. We have to be focused on the mission at hand. That mission is to put a check on President Trump in the U.S. House and Senate, and do the hard work of saving the middle class.
So anyone who makes an election this important about themselves, and not Michiganders and our democracy, should think hard about whether they are serving the greater good.
People outside of Michigan sometimes have a hard time understanding our politics. And in moments like these, I get it.
But here’s the simple truth: The election on Tuesday is bigger than any one person. It’s about who we are as a country and the values that most represent us.
Michigan elects fighters, and we will elect @AbdulElSayed on November 3.

NEW: Sen. Angus King leaks to The New York Times that he hasn't spoken to Susan Collins in months and that his staff has been instructed to let Collins take credit for things that help Maine if that's what it takes to get a good policy outcome! #MEpolitics

My final pitch for voting for a Democratic Senator:
Thomas is 78. Alito is 76. If we get to 51 Senators, it blocks them from resigning. Then they're in their 80s by 2030.
Every Senator elected gives us a chance to save the nation. I don't care if you like them or not.
Marylanders: President Obama endorsed Question 3.
It's about ensuring we can fight back against Trump's corruption and chaos. Maryland voters get a say on if we respond to the GOP power grab. Stand up to Trump, stand with Obama, and vote YES on Question 3.
In Nevada, there are three candidates running for governor. One, Danielle Ford, is running w/o a party affiliation. Ford happens to share the last name of the Democrat on the ticket, Aaron Ford.
Different from Alaska, in that it's not the first name that's shared, too.
However...
Danielle Ford is being boosted by a mysterious PAC. That PAC has ties to Republicans. It's office is "a mailbox office rental company in the same commercial complex as" the Republican in the race: Gov. Joe Lombardo.
Is this Alaska-like? Maybe. Maybe not. A shared office space doesn't necessarily mean coordination. But it's certainly interesting.
Does it show that these shady things happen all over the place, yeah. And there's plenty more examples, too.

This is what putting South Carolina first looks like.
I’m honored to have the support of two former governors — Republican David Beasley and Democrat Jim Hodges.
We may not agree on everything, but we share a belief that matters most: South Carolina deserves leaders who will always put its people first.

Huge respect to the organizers, activists and voters of Brazil and Serbia. These results are due to so much work and they give us so much hope. There is nothing inevitable about the far right.

Gas prices are “temporarily” high, says the president.
That’s because Republicans are temporarily in power.
Vote.
TRUMP on HIGH GAS PRICES: We’re making money like we’ve never made before. They’ll say: President Trump is bragging about all the money they're making while people are suffering at the pump. I don’t give a damn. We’re making a freaking fortune.

.@JoeVogel_: "Just like Trump tried to rig the 2020 election, he's trying to rig the 2026 election.
A yes on Question 3 is a vote on Question 3 is a vote to fight Trump, but more importantly, it's a vote to protect our democracy."

Manchin says both parties are to blame for Vivek Ramaswamy’s disgusting ad.
Sure dude. Enjoy retirement. 🙄
The disgusting attack ad in the Ohio governor’s race points to a much bigger problem in politics. The political parties don't care about the character or integrity of their candidates anymore. They only care about power — no matter what it takes. We need common sense leadership, and once again, the parties are failing to meet the moment.
