A great experience working with Will on this movie.
Will Smith reveals he did not want to do The Pursuit of Happyness because he thought it was just a movie about a guy getting a job
“I did not want to make Pursuit of Happyness, so I looked at it and it was like it’s a really great story, but I was like who wants to go to the movies to see a dude get a job in the 80s?”
“It was like the movie is about a guy who gets a job, compared to Men in Black, compared to I am Legend, and I saw it was a really great story, but I just didn’t think it had box office viability”
“JL has exquisite taste, he said I promise you, and I read it and I loved it, I just didn’t think it had box office viability, and it ended up making 300 million, it’s a classic”
