A reminder to please get yourself checked for prostate cancer if you’re within any of the danger categories! Early prostate cancer often has no symptoms. Don’t wait to feel unwell. You’re at higher risk if you: • are above the age of 45. • have any suspicious symptoms. • are Black (about 1 in 4 Black men get it, compared with 1 in 8 men overall). • have a father or brother who had prostate cancer. • have a BRCA2 gene change, or a strong family history of prostate, breast, ovarian or pancreatic cancer. If that sounds like you, speak to your GP from age 45. Other men can ask from 50. There is no routine NHS screening for all men. You can still ask your GP for a PSA blood test. Talk through the pros and cons first - a raised PSA does not always mean cancer. Book that chat this week. Catching it early makes treatment far more effective.
