⚠️THIRTEEN MONTHS OLD. SHE SHOULD HAVE HAD A LIFETIME. Prosecutors at Warwick Crown Court allege Isabella Stasiak suffered at least five weeks of abuse before dying on 7 January 2025. Jurors heard of skull and rib fractures, a broken arm, bleeding around her brain, bruising, an untreated burn covering her face, forceful head impact and shaking. Both parents face two counts of assault of a child under 13 by penetration. They deny these charges. Both parents also face three child-cruelty charges involving Isabella and two other children. They deny those charges. Court reporting from January 2025 also records that Michal Stasiak was charged with possessing indecent images of children. The alleged material included 63 Category A images—the most serious category. Prosecutors allege her mother filmed Isabella lifeless 17 minutes before calling 999, deleted the videos and smoked outside while police tried to save her. Jurors also heard about searches concerning fatal burns and imprisonment for beating a child. ISABELLA HAD ALREADY BEEN IN CARE. The jury was told neither parent wanted her, but they did not believe in abortion. Her father asked a social worker whether reconsidering adoption could bring housing assistance. Isabella returned home in April 2024. The prosecution asked jurors to consider how far the prospect of a home influenced that decision. Speak For Them’s focus here is safeguarding children from abuse and neglect: how risks are assessed, how concerns are shared and acted upon, and what protection is provided when children return from care. We will follow Isabella’s trial and any safeguarding review closely. The decisions surrounding her return home and the safeguarding arrangements that followed deserve scrutiny. Any failures established by evidence must lead to accountability and change. Her mother, Kinga Wydrzynska, denies murder. Both defendants deny the charges concerning Isabella’s death, serious physical harm, sexual assault and child cruelty. The trial continues; these are prosecution allegations, not verdicts.
